In addition to Kruger and Joyner, we have Emily Taaffe, Shelley Conn, Patrick Baladi, Stephen Campbell Moore, JJ Field, and The Split’s Ben Bailey Smith joining the production team.
The story revolves around the bond shared by Jess (Kruger), Liz (Joyner), Mel (Taaffe), and Charlotte (Conn), four women expecting babies. They first met a decade ago during a prenatal class, and aside from their delivery dates, they had little in common.
“They have since formed lasting friendships and supported each other through motherhood, until now.
In the tranquil life of stay-at-home mom Jess, everything appears picture-perfect. However, her serene world starts to crumble when she takes her baby daughter Betsy to the hospital due to an unexplained head injury. Liz, her confidante who happens to be an A&E doctor on duty, faces a heartrending dilemma: whether to report this situation to child protective services.
From the trailer, it’s clear that viewers will see how Liz’s choice to inform social services about her friend sets off a series of events. These events could potentially dismantle their entire friendship circle and put their families at risk.
According to the trailer’s depiction, the bond between Jess and her spouse Ed (Feild) faces intense strain as their seemingly idyllic life starts to disintegrate, revealing underlying issues.
Earlier on, regarding the show, Kruger expressed: “I believe this series will present a relatable narrative that delves into the harsh judgments society imposes on mothers. The tale beautifully portrays the delicate nature of reputation, as we witness the swift unraveling of Jess’ seemingly flawless life.
Little Disasters will premiere on Paramount+ in the UK and Ireland on Thursday 22 May.
