The trailer for The Pendragon Cycle: Rise of the Merlin offers a fresh take on the Arthurian legend, moving away from traditional castle settings. Based on the popular books by Stephen R. Lawhead, the series is set in Britain after the Romans have left, a time of great upheaval and change.
With barbarian attacks increasing, this series tells the story of a young Merlin, portrayed as a Christian figure who connects Britain’s ancient druidic traditions with its growing Christian faith. He’s the son of Taliesin, a powerful druid, and Charis, a princess from the legendary lost city of Atlantis.
The new series, “The Pendragon Cycle,” offers a fresh take on the classic Arthurian stories. Instead of being set in the traditional medieval period, it takes place in Roman-occupied Britain, a time when Christianity was first spreading amidst conflict and uncertainty. With barbarian invasions looming, the story suggests that only those who hold strong faith will be able to overcome the challenges ahead.
The Daily Wire’s new series, The Pendragon Cycle, is a large-scale production. Jeremy Boreing created the series and also serves as an executive producer, along with Caleb Robinson, Ryan Whitaker, Ben Shapiro, Dallas Sonnier, and Daniel Kresmery. Jeremy Boreing, Jesse V. Johnson, and Ryan Whitaker all directed episodes.
Tom Sharp stars as Merlin, leading a cast that includes Rose Reid, James Arden, and Finney Cassidy. The show also features Brett Cooper, Myles Clohessy, Alex Laurence-Phillips, Daniel Fathers, Emree Franklin, Steve Varnom, Alex Arco, and George Osborne.
The new seven-part series will debut on DailyWire+ on January 22, 2026. New episodes will be released each Thursday.
