New Strictly favourite Karen Carney’s dance background is revealed after shocking viewers with her incredible scoreboard-topping jive

It’s been discovered that Karen Carney has a background in dance, explaining her impressive debut performance that captivated audiences.

The current frontrunner on Strictly, who is 38 years old, performed a jive with her partner Carlos on Saturday night’s show.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe what she just did! I was watching, and she completely blew everyone away! She just jumped right to the very top of the leaderboard – it was insane! The judges were totally stunned, their jaws dropped, and honestly, people watching at home were just as shocked as I was. It was a moment I’ll never forget!

Now, the former England Lioness’ previous dance experience has been revealed.

In a past interview, she shared that she first trained in dance when she was young, before dedicating herself to football.

As a lifestyle expert, I often hear about people discovering their passions, and my own story is no different! I loved playing football as a child – we used to have so many fun kickabouts. But, believe it or not, I didn’t actually join a proper football club until I was 11. It just goes to show, you can enjoy something for years before taking it to the next level!

‘Until then, it was all about dancing for me.

We practiced a wide variety of dances and musical styles, including street dance, hip-hop, disco, rock ‘n’ roll, slow dancing, and team dances.

According to The Sun, Karen also stated: ‘As I grew older and my football games moved to Sundays, I faced some decisions to make.’

‘I decided to give up dancing when I was 15.’

She explained that her agility, strength, power, and footwork during matches were completely due to dancing, without a doubt.

Even though I was very young, I was actually quite strong. This was due to all the dancing I did, which helped build my muscles.

After her performance on Saturday, betting odds for Karen winning the glitterball trophy have significantly decreased.

Her odds at bookmaker Ladbrokes have dropped from 16/1 to just 5/1.

A surprised viewer posted on Saturday: ‘Karen Carney delivering this level of performance in the first week and finishing at the top of the leaderboard? We’re definitely in for a fantastic season!’

Another person complimented her interview after the dance, saying: ‘Karen Carney – what a wonderfully humble and professional woman. With so many people constantly saying “look at me,” it’s really nice to hear someone simply say “thanks for having me,” “great crowd,” and “everyone worked so hard.” You can tell she’s a fantastic team player. Respect.

‘Hollldddd on. I feel like I’m joining the entire country in ripping up my Strictly predictions tonight because oh my god??? Karen Carney I am so sorry I was not aware of your game,’ another posted.

Meanwhile, Lewis Cope’s professional dance past recently came to light, sparking fury amongst fans.

It seems he’s incredibly gifted, as this actor-known for his work on television-is also a professionally trained dancer.

In a segment that aired on the BBC show, Lewis revealed he’d been dancing since he was 10 years old-and even performed in Billy Elliot in London’s West End.

He recalled: ‘When I was 11 years old, I performed in Billy Elliot in London’s West End, which felt very connected to what was happening in my life at the time. While my brothers were learning to box, I was taking dance lessons.’

On X, previously known as Twitter, many fans believe he has a strong chance of winning due to his background in dance. They flocked to the platform to share their opinions, suggesting his prior experience gives him an advantage. It’s clear many viewers are already predicting his success.

Someone commented: ‘I wish Lewis would stop acting like he doesn’t have professional dance training.’ Another person added, ‘Just another former professional dancer like Billy Elliot. tut tut

A second commented: ‘Just give lewis the trophy now. He looks the part without seeing him move.’

Another person added: ‘Lewis is a very gifted dancer. His background in theatre will also be a great asset. I truly believe he’s going to reach the final!’
