As a seasoned film enthusiast who’s seen more Star Wars movies than I can count (and that’s saying something!), I must say that this unexpected early release of Disney’s new series, Skeleton Crew, has me both excited and puzzled. It’s like receiving an early Christmas present, but I can’t help but wonder if the holiday decorations are still up at Disney HQ.
Within a short span of time, Disney is set to premiere the new “Star Wars” TV series titled “Skeleton Crew” on Disney+. This series revolves around a band of youngsters who unexpectedly find themselves in a predicament, stranded from home and at the helm of a starship. They must learn cooperation to navigate it and locate their way back. Aiding them is an enigmatic figure portrayed by Jude Law. It’s classic “Star Wars,” but infused with elements reminiscent of “The Goonies” or “Stranger Things.
Initially, the premiere of the first two episodes of Skeleton Crew was scheduled for Tuesday, December 3. However, Disney has now announced an early release – the first two episodes will be available on Monday, December 2, at 9:00 p.m. EST (8:00 p.m. CST), followed by one new episode each Tuesday thereafter.
It seems Disney is releasing the initial two episodes of “Skeleton Crew” ahead of schedule. This appears to be a pattern they’ve been following as it happened with “Star Wars: Ahsoka” in 2023. Originally scheduled for release on Wednesday, August 23, Disney decided to bring the first two episodes forward, airing them instead on Tuesday, August 22.
Fans are lucky to catch the show early, but I’m puzzled as to why Disney frequently adjusts things at the last moment. One might wonder if it’s challenging to organize a schedule well in advance?
