As a hardcore Star Wars enthusiast who has grown up with the saga since the original trilogy, this latest twist in the galaxy far, far away leaves me feeling like I’m stuck in Hoth’s carbon-freezing chamber – on repeat! The constant reshuffling of release dates and new projects makes it feel like a game of galactic whack-a-mole.
One of Disney’s new Star Wars movies has been replaced by Ice Age 6 in a release date shake-up.
A science fiction film, unnamed within its series, is set for release on December 18, 2026, with Daisy Ridley reprising her role as Rey as the anticipated next adventure.
Presently, it’s the fresh “Ice Age” movie that has been placed in its scheduled release, following the announcement at D23 Brazil last week. No new release date has been disclosed for the upcoming “Star Wars” film as per Deadline’s report.

Building on the recent announcement that Simon Kinberg, previously a producer for the X-Men franchise, has agreed to direct a fresh Star Wars trilogy, we’re still unsure about the placement of these upcoming movies within the Star Wars galaxy.
As an eager admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement about the upcoming Rey movie. This film, under the guidance of the talented Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, seems to stand alone in its narrative. The storyline appears to revolve around Rey’s endeavor to construct a brand new Jedi order, following what seems to be a significant loss of members. Regrettably, Steven Knight, who previously worked on Peaky Blinders, will no longer serve as the writer for this project.
As of now, we don’t know which “Star Wars” film is scheduled for release on December 17, 2027; however, it’s set in stone that a new one will be out on that date.

In the meantime, the cinematic follow-up of “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” which is based on the popular Disney+ TV series, is scheduled for release on May 22, 2026. This upcoming production will be overseen by Jon Favreau, the original creator of the show.
He expressed his joy about sharing tales in the intricate universe George Lucas built, adding that the idea of presenting The Mandalorian and his trainee Grogu on the big screen is incredibly thrilling.
The epic film, “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” along with the complete Skywalker Saga can be streamed on Disney+. Additionally, you can purchase physical copies of this movie on DVD, Blu-ray, and even 4K versions for a more high-definition experience.
