New star-studded ’60s-set Netflix period drama confirms lead cast
Netflix has confirmed the star-studded cast of its upcoming period drama Show Business.
In the landscape of South Korea’s entertainment industry spanning from the 1960s to the 1980s, the series titled Show Business features actress Song Hye-kyo portraying Min-ja, a resilient character who, despite facing a challenging upbringing, manages to forge her way in Korea’s growing music industry.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled to be sharing the screen with none other than Gong Yoo from the sensationally popular Squid Game! In our upcoming series, he’ll be portraying Min-ja’s old pal, Dong-gu – a childhood friend of mine, if you will. Can’t wait to bring this story to life together!
As reported by Variety, the strong connection between these two characters is put to the test as they journey through the ruthless world of entertainment side by side.
In the Light Shop, Kim Seol-hyun will portray the character Min-hui. Her connection with Min-ja begins as a deep affection in their childhood and develops into a more intricate competition.
Cha Seung-won is set to portray a renowned composer who is recognized for his knack of nurturing stars, often referred to as one with the “golden touch”. Meanwhile, Lee Hanee will complete the principal cast as Min-ja’s mother, Yang-ja.
The movie titled “Show Business” is currently being penned by Noh Hee-gyoung and will be helmed by Lee Yoon-jung. As of now, there’s no set date for its premiere.
Actor Gong Yoo has made his comeback, playing a salesman in the second installment of the highly successful Netflix series “Squid Game“. The show is set to air its concluding season in June.
The third and concluding season of Squid Game takes us along as Gi-hun grapples with grief over losing his friend within the game, and is further tormented by The Front Man who disguised himself to enter the competition. This hidden identity causes additional misery for Gi-hun.
As a determined gamer, I press on towards my objective – ending this game. However, The Front Man keeps making his moves, and every choice we make seems to escalate the stakes with each passing round. The consequences grow grimmer with each turn.
As for the Show Business, we don’t know when it will be released. On the other hand, Squid Game seasons 1 and 2 can already be found on Netflix, and season 3 is set to premiere on June 27th.
