New Snow White live action movie could be the end of Disney's re-imagined classics

As a seasoned gamer and long-time Disney fan, I must admit that the recent trailer for Snow White and Seven Dwarfs left me feeling more like a disappointed player who just lost a hard-earned level than a captivated spectator eager for the next big adventure.

At the latest Disney D23 Fan Extravaganza, the fresh trailer for their upcoming live-action reboot dropped, but to be honest, it hasn’t sparked much enthusiasm among fans like myself.

Often, trailers for films offer their most captivating moments, leaving audiences eagerly anticipating what they’ll see on the big screen. However, when a movie falls short of those expectations, viewers may remark that “the trailer was better.” Fortunately, Disney can rest easy about Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs; if the film surpasses its trailer, it might not be particularly impressive.

In a more casual and straightforward manner: Snow White’s latest adaptation seems disappointing, especially the first trailer. The portrayal of the dwarves appears more like stereotypes instead of well-rounded characters. Also, the digital animation used for the dwarves feels awkward and mismatched in a live-action setting. Compared to Disney’s other works such as the live-action version of The Lion King, this production falls short in integrating animation seamlessly.

The only saving grace may be the performance expectations of Gal Gadot bringing the Evil Queen to life. Then again, everyone is questioning why “the mirror” would think that Snow White was the “Fairest of them all” in comparison. That is only a small problem with what was shown for the upcoming film.

Put simply, the latest trailer seems closer to an imitation of a Thomas Kincaid artwork rather than a true-to-life adaptation of a beloved classic animated Disney film.

Renee Zellweger is a skilled actress, but Disney’s portrayal of her as Snow White appears somewhat awkward. Her performance lacks the genuine acting that one would expect from such a character. From the very beginning, she seems miscast, and even the musical number falls short and sounds off-key.

The film will release in 2025 and frankly, there doesn’t seem to be much hope.
