New Skeleton Crew photos show first look at Jaleel White's space pirate

Ahoy there, matey! As a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast who’s spent more hours in the galaxy far, far away than I care to admit, this latest revelation about Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has me shivering my timbers with excitement! The prospect of Jaleel White as a space pirate and the confirmation of Marti Matulis’s return as Vane have sent my heart a-flutter like Han Solo over the Death Star.

Avast, ye maties! It’s time for some space pirates!

Entertainment Weekly shares previously unseen images from the forthcoming television show, titled “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.” Among these sneak peeks is a debut snapshot of the character portrayed by Jaleel White.

In the picture, White appears to portray a cyborg character named Gunter, with mechanical components resembling Lobot from the original trilogy, but not exactly the same. To the left, you can spot Marti Matulis playing the pirate Vane, who made his debut in Season 3 of The Mandalorian and has been confirmed for Skeleton Crew as an antagonist. Moving from left to right, Stephan Oyoung plays Brutus, a Shistavanen (also known as Wolf Man) in the group, with Frank Tatasciore voicing him. Lastly, Mike Estes and Dale Soules portray Pax and Chaelt respectively.

Jon Watts and Christopher Ford have affirmed that pirates will significantly feature in the series, flourishing during the New Republic period. Ford explained, “Given the epoch we’re exploring, there’s an opportunity to delve into lawlessness. Since the Empire has fallen, we’re tapping into a section of the galaxy that experiences a reemergence of piracy.

In addition, they acknowledged that the series drew significant inspiration from the LucasArts game “Monkey Island,” as Watts himself is a fan of the franchise. He further explained, “It’s got that classic Lucas touch, so we’re somewhere between Star Wars pirates and ‘Monkey Island’ pirates. I believe we’ve discovered our perfect blend.

Entertainment Weekly unveiled a fresh snapshot featuring Jude Law’s character, Yod Na Nawood. Similar to him, there’s a sense of being a pirate about this role, as he dons an antiquated blaster on his waist that resembles the pistols once carried by seafaring pirates, and a coat reminiscent of swashbuckling attire.
