New Pokémon Pokopia Crossover Kicks Off Today, But There’s A Catch

Okay, so everyone’s been talking about Pokémon Pokopia, and it’s seriously become one of those games you have to play on the Switch 2. And now, get this – it’s doing a collaboration with something totally unexpected! As a huge Pokémon fan, this game already felt like a dream, and honestly, even though the crossover is a little weird, it somehow fits perfectly with the game’s vibe.

Starting today, April 1st, Pokémon Pokopia is hosting a special event with IKEA. IKEA’s team has designed a unique Cloud Island within the game called IKEA Island. Players can explore this island in-game, and fans in Japan can find real-life recreations of the island’s rooms in select IKEA stores. These rooms are themed after Pikachu and Snorlax, featuring furniture in bright yellow and red, and cool teal and white colors, respectively.

Pokopia Collab Comes To IKEA Stores In Japan

IKEA has announced a collaboration with Pokopia, but hasn’t yet said which stores will feature the special Pokopia rooms – though the Okayama location won’t be one of them. The in-store event runs until May 10, 2026, while the Cloud Island area within Pokopia will be available until June 30. Alongside the themed rooms, shoppers can look forward to collecting stamps throughout the store, receiving stickers with purchases over ¥5,000, entering a prize lottery, enjoying themed food decorations, and taking photos at a dedicated spot.

The physical rooms are cleverly designed to resemble their in-game versions. The Pikachu room feels like a child’s bedroom, and while the couch isn’t explicitly Pikachu-themed, IKEA offers mushroom-colored stools that are remarkably similar to those found in the game’s Pokopia. Snorlax’s room has a more grown-up feel, and would seem like a real-life space if not for the unusually large white dining table placed right at the end of the bed.

You Might Be Able To Explore The IKEA Cloud Island

If you can’t make it to Japan for the Pokémon Pokopia and IKEA collaboration, you might still be able to join in a little. It looks like codes to access the IKEA Island in the online experience will be available in the physical IKEA stores running the promotion, and people will likely share them online. Right now, we don’t know much about what there is to do on the IKEA Island, or if it’s just a virtual showcase of the Pokémon-themed rooms.

It’s a shame not everyone can visit a Japanese IKEA to experience the Pokémon collaboration firsthand. While the Cloud Island collection might be interesting, it probably won’t compare to the amazing things players are creating themselves – the real focus is on what you’ll find in the store. The Pokémon Pokopia collaboration has been incredibly popular, and this IKEA partnership, though unexpected, shows just how much the game has captured people’s imaginations.
