The next Pokémon GO Catch Mastery event will feature Archen, the first Bird Pokémon.

In the world of Pokémon GO, the Catch Mastery event is making a comeback, with Archen taking center stage this time. During these events in Pokémon GO, players are encouraged to venture out and catch as many Pokémon as they can, whether they’re found in the wild or obtained through Field Research tasks.

During this extended event, you’ll earn unique rewards for precise throws, experience enhanced chances of encountering shiny Pokémon, and there’s plenty more exciting features to explore – making it far more engaging than a typical Pokémon GO event.

As a dedicated Pokémon GO player, I can tell you that catching mastery events don’t pop up too frequently.

Pokémon GO Catch Mastery: Archen

On Sunday, March 16, 2025, the extended Catch Mastery event in Pokémon GO will take place, starting at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 8:00 p.m., according to your local time.

During this event, you’ll spot Omanyte and Kabuto roaming around more often in the wild. And here’s a fun fact – both of these Pokémon have the potential to shine, meaning they can appear as their shiny versions.

Event bonuses feature increased Shiny Archen odds in Pokémon GO

Here are all the bonuses that will run throughout the ten hours of the event.

  • Increased chance of encountering Shiny Omanyte, Shiny Kabuto, and Shiny Archen in Pokémon GO.
  • 2× XP for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
  • 2× XP for successfully catching Pokémon with Curveball Throws.

This occasion offers an excellent chance to accumulate experience points (XP) in Pokémon GO. If you manage to make multiple Nice, Great, or Excellent throws consecutively, it becomes even more beneficial. Using a Lucky Egg multiplies this bonus, resulting in a 4-fold increase of XP earned.

Special Field Research Task Encounters

During this event, I’m all about trying to nab a Shiny Archen in Pokémon GO. They’ve got some challenging tasks lined up for us gamers, mainly testing our Poké Ball tossing skills. If I manage to complete these Field Research missions, I stand a chance of encountering an Archen, and if luck’s on my side, it could be Shiny!

As a gamer, I’m excited to share that there’s a special event coming up for us Rock-type Pokémon enthusiasts! We’ll be diving into a Timed Research project, specifically designed to help us catch more Rock-types. Completing 10 sets of tasks will grant us a total of 40 Archen encounters – and get this, the chances of encountering a Shiny Archen will be increased! Can’t wait to see what other surprises this research brings!

To increase your chances of encountering Archen more frequently, you can invest in a $2 ticket for a boost. This action will grant you an extra 40 interactions with the Archen creature.
