Overwatch 2 just got a huge update which included Freja being added to Stadium and more.

Overwatch 2 has just released a significant update, featuring various adjustments and even the introduction of Freja Hero in the Stadium map. Let me share with you all the essential details about Overwatch 2’s latest changes.

Freja added to Stadium in new Overwatch 2 update

In simple terms, the latest update for Overwatch 2, rolled out on May 20, 2025, introduces the well-liked character, Freja, into the Stadium game mode. Stadium is a more recent addition to Overwatch 2 where teams of five players engage in a best-of-seven competition.

However, not every Hero joined Stadium upon its release.

After Stadium’s debut, numerous players have requested the addition of Freja, the character armed with a crossbow, to the game’s 5v5 mode. With the latest update for Overwatch 2, Freja has been included in this popular game mode at last.

Apart from being at the Stadium now, Freja has additionally acquired a multitude of fresh abilities exclusive to the 5v5 game mode.

All Freja Stadium powers:

  • Cyclone:
    • When you use Updraft, fire a Take Aim bolt at your crosshair.
  • Seekerpoint:
    • When Take Aim bolt sticks an enemy, automatically fire three additional crossbow shots
      at them that deal 66% reduced damage.
  • Seismic Shot:
    • Take Aim explosion radius is increased by 33%. Double this if the bolt is stuck to a
      target.
  • Thread the Needle:
    • Take Aim bolts pierce enemies. Additional explosions deal 66% reduced damage.
  • Deep Pockets:
    • When you use an ability, restore 50% of your Max Ammo.
  • Forager:
    • For two seconds after using Quick Dash, Revdraw Crossbow hits heal you for 3% of
      your Max Life.
  • Peak Performance:
    • While firing Revdraw Crossbow, your fall speed is decreased by 80%.
  • Redux:
    • Revdraw Crossbow hits against targets struck by a Take Aim bolt or Bola Shot, reduces your abilities’ cooldown by 5%, and refunds one ammo.

  • Volley à Deux:
    • Every fifth Revdraw Crossbow shot fires an additional 2 bolts in a spread that deal
      50% reduced damage.
  • Lille Fælde:
    • After using Updraft, your next Take Aim while airborne fires a Bola Shot that deals
      60% reduced damage instead of an explosive bolt.
  • So Cooked:
    • Bola Shot’s damaging zone deals 50% more damage and lingers for three seconds. Bola
      shot eliminations count toward Bounty Hunting.
  • Mighty Gust:
    • Updraft launches a wind blast toward your crosshair, knocking back enemies and
      dealing 40 ability damage.

It’ll take a couple of days for Overwatch players to fully gauge whether Freja’s new skills are too strong (or balanced).

Soldier: 76 and Reinhardt get heavy nerfs

Though incorporating Freja into Stadium excites numerous Overwatch 2 enthusiasts, supporters of characters like Soldier: 76 and Reinhardt find themselves feeling down, as these heroes received significant adjustments or reductions (nerfs) in the latest upgrade.

Soldier: 76 nerfs:

  • Reduced increased Explosion Damage to 15% (down from 25%).

Reinhardt nerfs:

  • Smashing (Power):
    • Reduced Move Speed per stack to 1% (down from 2%).
    • Reduced Life Steal per stack to 3% (down from 5%).
    • Increased maximum stacks to 10 (up from five).
    • Reduced duration to two seconds (down from three seconds).
  • To Me, My Friends! (Power):
    • Increased healing based on Max Life to 4% (up from 3%).
  • Wilhelmwagen (Power):
    • Decreased healing from damage mitigated to 5% (down from 15%).
  • Rocket Strike (Item):
    • Decreased Fire Strike Projectile Speed to 25% (down from 50%).
    • Decreased Ability Power to 10% (down from 20%).
  • Chimera’s Maw (Item):
    • Decreased Ability Power to 5% (down from 10%).
