A star-studded thriller dubbed “gripping” and “astonishing” is streaming now on Netflix.
Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys lead the cast of The Beast in Me, with supporting performances from Brittany Snow, Natalie Morales, David Lyons, Deirdre O’Connell, Jonathan Banks, and Hettienne Park.
The show centers on author Aggie Wiggs (played by Danes) as she battles a crippling case of writer’s block while her personal life is also crumbling.

Things start to look up for her when she unexpectedly finds inspiration for her writing in her new neighbor, Niles Jarvis, a property developer.
The story centers around a well-known author who becomes entangled in a dangerous and unsettling game with her wealthy and influential new neighbor, a man who may be a killer.

Since all eight episodes became available on the streaming service, viewers have called it captivating and one of the best shows on television.
I just read a review in The Guardian about The Beast in Me, and they called it ‘astonishing’! They said the acting between Mads Mikkelsen and Matthew Rhys is incredible and that it’s a real awards contender. Seriously, they said you just can’t look away – sounds intense!
Okay, so the show is definitely a bit over the top and dramatic, but honestly, I couldn’t stop watching. Claire Danes is just amazing at playing that really intense, on-the-edge, falling-apart kind of character – she absolutely nails it.
The New York Times also commended Danes’ performance, noting that while “The Beast in Me” is a suspenseful thriller reminiscent of the Robert Durst case, Danes portrays her character, Aggie, with a relatable and down-to-earth quality.

When Danes struggles to write, staring blankly at her computer, she perfectly captures the frustration and worry many people in their late 40s feel – the fear that their best creative work might be behind them.
According to The Radio Times, the show made a significant mistake. While The Beast in Me brings together three highly acclaimed actors from popular TV shows – Claire Danes (Homeland), Matthew Rhys (The Americans), and Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad) – the publication found that it ultimately diminishes their talents.
The i Paper shared a similar opinion, stating that while some viewers will become invested enough to finish the series, others – including the reviewer – believe The Beast In Me should have ended much sooner, before being released on Netflix.
