New must-see “frightening” horror movie debuts with near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes rating
The freshly released, chilling horror film titled “Bring Her Back“, produced by A24, is currently receiving an almost flawless score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The upcoming horror film, featuring Sally Hawkins as the main character, is scheduled to premiere in UK cinemas on August 1st and US cinemas on May 30th.
Under the guidance of directors Danny and Michael Philippou, who are also known for “Talk To Me”, this supernatural horror represents their second full-length movie production.

In the movie titled “Bring Her Back“, we find Hawkins portraying the character of Laura, a woman overwhelmed with grief. Alongside her, we have two siblings, Sora Wong and Billy Barratt, who are taken under Laura’s care.
Mischa Heywood and Jonah Wren Phillips, who portrays one of Laura’s foster kids named Oliver, also become part of the cast.
The story revolves around a brother and his sister, who discover a chilling tradition when they move into the isolated residence of their freshly-assigned foster mom.
Before hitting the big screens, the movie “Bring Her Back” has been well-received by critics so far. At present, it has garnered a rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 31 professional reviews.
In their assessment of the horror movie, Mashable noted that Bring Her Back was equally terrifying as Philipous’ initial film, likening it to Talk To Me.
According to their writing, with Sally Hawkins leading the cast, the movie “Bring Her Back” is reportedly as chilling as the Phillipou brothers’ debut, and perhaps even a tad more terrifying.
As a fan, I’d express it like this: “In the style of the Philippous, the horror in ‘Bring Her Back’ is raw and merciless, much like their initial work suggested. Yet, what sets this film apart is its relentless and tangible sense of despair and anguish that permeates from beginning to end, leaving you gripped by dread.
Screen International commended Hawkins’ acting, noting that she skillfully portrayed her character’s villainy by subtly suggesting it early on and later revealing an image of unimaginable malevolence that was chilling in its understated menace.
According to Variety, the Philippous’ work has an impressionistic style that is convincing and self-explanatory. They don’t worry too much about neatly concluding every detail. Instead, they aim to evoke a specific feeling or intense sensation of malevolence.
The AV Club stated: “Just as a punk band converts simple chord progressions into raw anger, Bring Her Back transforms common trauma-induced horror into a harrowing ordeal. Watching Bring Her Back is more like surviving it.
In a similar fashion to many terrifying horror films, “Bring Her Back” scarcely delves into the realm of the supernatural to effectively unnerve its audience, as stated by “The Wrap“.
Bring Her Back hits US cinemas on 30 May. In the UK, the film releases on 1 August.
A Talk To Me sequel, titled Talk 2 Me, has been announced.
