We loved Monster Hunter Wilds – it was a standout game for us in 2025! In our review, we called it an improvement over both Monster Hunter: World and Rise, and highly recommend it to all players.
When Monster Hunter Wilds first came out, many players agreed it was fun, but also had serious performance issues on PCs. Over time, the conversation changed, focusing less on the gameplay itself and more on those frustrating technical problems.
Capcom promised improvements were coming to Monster Hunter Wilds, and after almost a year since the game launched, they’re now releasing them. The latest PC patch (version 1.040.03.01) includes changes designed to improve performance, specifically for Steam users, and reduce the strain on players’ computers.
The developers found a bug causing performance problems – specifically, a spike in CPU usage near the Support Desk at Base Camp or the Grand Hub. This was happening because the game was unnecessarily checking the status of certain content, which led to lower frame rates. This update fixes that bug, and further improvements are planned for the Version 1.041 update on February 18th for Monster Hunter Wilds.
Today’s PC Patch for Monster Hunter Wilds Addresses Several Performance Issues

Capcom is releasing updates for both processors (CPUs) and graphics cards (GPUs) to make the game run better on PCs. Here’s what’s included:
- Reducing shader warming processes performed outside the shader compilation screen
- Adjusting texture streaming
- Adjusting the High Resolution Texture Pack
As a player, I’m really excited to see they’ve added a new CPU section to the options menu! Now I can tweak those settings to get the best performance. Plus, there are a bunch of new graphics options and presets, which is awesome for customizing how the game looks and runs on my system.
Monster Hunter Wilds was a standout game for us in 2025, and many players felt the same way initially. However, as time went on, the conversation moved away from how fun the game was and focused more on its disappointing performance on PCs.
Initial feedback from players on Steam is encouraging, although some are still experiencing frame rate issues, even after the recent update. Overall, most players agree that while the game isn’t flawless, it’s significantly more stable now.
