New Lord of the Rings movie debuts with fresh Rotten Tomatoes rating
As a die-hard fan who has spent countless hours immersed in the rich tapestry of Middle Earth since my first reading of Tolkien’s epic saga, I can confidently say that “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” is a worthy addition to the franchise. Though it may not reach the towering heights scaled by Peter Jackson’s film trilogy, it offers stirring moments that resonate with the inspiring spirit of those beloved stories.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” has been given a fresh certification.
This week, an animated tale makes its big-screen debut, marking it as the fourth animated production within the Lord of the Rings series.
The War of the Rohirrim takes place 200 years prior to The Two Towers and narrates the epic saga of the House of Helm Hammerhand, with the King of Rohan at its helm.
Following Lord Wulf’s vengeful pursuit after the death of his father, he executes a sudden assault on Helm and his tribe, leaving them no choice but to mount a valiant final defense within the fortress of Hornburg (renowned later as Helm’s Deep). Guided by Helm’s daughter Hera, they courageously hold their ground.
In contrast to the complexity of “The War of the Rohirrim,” many critics find Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings” movie trilogy familiar, and they generally consider it a valuable extension to the series.
Underneath Digital Spy, we’ve gathered several notable criticisms about the movie “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.
Empire Magazine
“This new adaptation for Middle-earth isn’t quite as impressive as Peter Jackson’s trilogy, but it still has some powerful scenes amid the challenges of blending different worlds.
TheWrap
Among the Lord of the Rings animated features, the fourth one is quite appealing. However, it loses some charm when you recall that there are just four in total.
Looper
“There was no chance of The War of the Rohirrim recapturing the magic of the Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings trilogy. But Hèra’s defiance in the face of the despair her enemies want her to feel has something of the trilogy’s inspirational quality.“
The Hollywood Reporter
Even if you’re not an expert in Tolkien details, you can still appreciate The War of the Rohirrim for its stunning visuals and epic narrative style, despite running long at approximately 134 minutes.
ScreenRant
Given the chance to revisit J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth as envisioned by Peter Jackson, I think engaging in ‘The War of the Rohirrim’ would be a fantastic option for my journey back.
In movie theaters starting December 13, 2024, you’ll find “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim,” while for a streaming experience, “The Rings of Power” is now accessible on Amazon Prime Video.
