New Kingdom Come Game’s Leaked Title Basically Confirms Its Story

I’m a huge fan of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and I eagerly await news about the next game. So I was thrilled to see a recent leak suggesting its title will be Kingdom Come: Salvation – not Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3, as I previously thought. Considering how the story ended in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Henry’s journey over those two games, and hints from the actor who played Tom McKay, I suspected the series would take a significant turn. The developers also described it as a fresh Kingdom Come adventure when they first announced it, which reinforced that idea.

Just because the developers are aiming to release a new Kingdom Come game relatively soon – within the next year or two – doesn’t guarantee it will continue the existing story. It’s quite possible they’ll start fresh with a brand-new narrative. A quick turnaround suggests the game will likely be set in the same location – medieval Bohemia – as they wouldn’t need to create an entirely new world. However, the leaked title, “Salvation,” if accurate, strongly hints at the direction of the story.

Kingdom Come: Salvation Would Most Likely Be About Saving Wenceslaus

The title “Salvation” likely hints that the next game will focus on rescuing King Wenceslaus. While Henry’s story in the first game began with personal revenge after the destruction of Skalitz, the larger conflict always revolved around Sigismund’s imprisonment of Wenceslaus and attempt to take control of Bohemia. This core issue isn’t resolved by the end of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2; Wenceslaus remains a prisoner, leaving the central political problem of the series still unresolved.

While Henry and his allies do inflict a significant defeat on Sigismund, capturing his silver and freeing the captured lords, it’s a temporary fix. They manage to drive him out of Bohemia, but it doesn’t return Wenceslaus to power or secure his release from captivity. Although Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 concludes Henry’s quest for revenge more completely than the original game, the larger conflict that started everything remains unresolved.

Rescuing Wenceslaus feels like a natural next step for the game, and the historical timing is remarkably convenient. Wenceslaus actually escaped from prison in Vienna on November 11, 1403 – just after the events depicted in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Crucially, his escape was aided by John II of Liechtenstein, a character who already features prominently in the game. In Deliverance 2, Henry warns and protects John from Sigismund’s schemes. Following his escape, Wenceslaus traveled through Mikulov, gathered support in Kuttenberg, and returned to Prague by Christmas. This means the developers already have the historical event, key characters, and locations needed to continue the story with minimal setup.

Just because the next game is called Kingdom Come: Salvation doesn’t mean it will be a simple escape-from-prison story, or even that Henry will be the one rescuing the king. The game could focus on a character like John of Liechtenstein, introduce someone new working with him, or use the escape as the start of a larger effort to bring peace back to Bohemia. However, the title “Salvation” seems too intentional to overlook. While Sigismund’s plans might face difficulties in the previous games, Bohemia hasn’t truly been saved yet. The rightful king is still captive, the kingdom’s future is unclear, and historically, Wenceslaus is about to break free.

The Hussite Wars Are Still Possible, But Less Likely Now

Before details about the game’s title appeared online, I believed the next Kingdom Come installment would be set during the Hussite Wars, and I still think that’s a great idea. This conflict, which began after the death of Wenceslaus in 1419, threw Bohemia into a major religious and political crisis with clashing groups, large-scale battles, and many famous Czech historical figures. Setting the game here would allow Warhorse to remain in medieval Bohemia while offering a fresh experience, as the player character, Henry, would be older, the political situation would be drastically different, and the initial conflict with Sigismund would have escalated into widespread chaos.

So, I’ve been following the rumors about the next Kingdom Come game being called Kingdom Come: Salvation, and honestly, it makes one popular theory seem less likely. That theory suggested we’d jump ahead to the start of the Hussite Wars, but “Salvation” feels more connected to Jan Hus himself – you know, the religious reformer? It could be about the growing unrest that eventually led to those wars.

But here’s what I’m thinking: going all the way to 1419 would mean skipping a big chunk of time after Deliverance 2. It makes more sense for them to focus on Wenceslaus escaping captivity, which happened pretty quickly after the first game and fits the ‘Salvation’ theme much better. The Hussite Wars are probably still planned for the future, but I think Salvation might be a stepping stone – a way to get us there instead of being the war itself.

However, considering the first two Kingdom Come games end with Wenceslaus in prison, introduce his historical rescuer, and take place shortly before the actual escape, “Salvation” feels like a fitting continuation of the story – even if it focuses on someone other than Henry.

I’m still hoping the game series will eventually cover the Hussite Wars, and I doubt the developers will avoid that historical period forever. However, focusing on King Wenceslaus seems like the next logical step. It’s amazing how a single leaked detail has gotten me so invested in the history – that’s why I enjoy this franchise so much! Now, I’m eagerly waiting for the developers to confirm if my predictions are accurate, or if I’m completely off base.
