The Hunger Games live show is starting in London later this month, and exciting news about the cast has just been revealed – John Malkovich is joining the production, but there’s an unexpected element.
The actor is going to play Coriolanus Snow, the villainous President of the Capitol in Panem. But it seems he won’t be performing in a theatrical production.
Rather than appearing live, his performance seems to have been filmed beforehand and will be shown on a screen during the shows. Although audiences might be disappointed not to see Malkovich in person, this actually fits the story, as Snow’s character is meant to be a powerful, distant figure who controls events from afar. It makes sense that he wouldn’t be physically present.

The actor expressed their excitement about being part of the first-ever stage production of The Hunger Games in London, stating, “I’m delighted to bring this well-known story to life on stage.”
I’m seriously excited to play President Coriolanus Snow! I’ve been a huge fan of Suzanne Collins’ books and the movies for ages, and I really admire Conor McPherson’s writing too. So, getting the chance to step into this role feels like a real privilege. It’s going to be thrilling, honestly. I can’t wait for everyone to see it and I think fans of the Hunger Games universe will really enjoy seeing this side of Snow.

2:22 A Ghost Story‘s Matthew Dunster is directing this version of the first book in the series. It follows Katniss Everdeen as she bravely volunteers for the Hunger Games – a dangerous yearly event. This competition represents the Capitol’s control over the troubled, futuristic world of Panem.
The stage adaptation will star Mia Carragher as Katniss, Euan Garrett as Peeta Mellark, Tristan Waterson as Gale Hawthorne, Joshua Lacey as Haymitch Abernathy, and Tamsin Carroll as Effie Trinket.
The show takes place at the specially designed Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre, which features a unique theatre-in-the-round layout. Each seating area is called after a different District. Tickets are available now, and performances are scheduled through mid-February. Find tickets here.

The novel is being adapted into a movie, scheduled for release next November, and it boasts a very impressive cast.
