New “haunting” and unique 100%-rated horror movie confirms UK release

Unique and “haunting” new horror movie Good Boy has confirmed a UK release.

The movie, boasting a flawless 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, stands out because it narrates the story from a dog’s point of view.

Excitingly enough, I can now verify that I, along with fellow enthusiasts residing in the UK, will have the privilege of streaming the movie on Shudder – just like our counterparts in the US, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand!

The film, titled “Good Boy“, centers around a canine character, played by the director and co-writer Ben Leonberg’s pet dog named Indy, as they transition with their owner Todd to a rural family residence.

As I navigate through the eerie corridors of this old house, my fur bristling with tension, I can sense something unsettled lurking within these walls. Shadows dance and flicker in ways they shouldn’t, hinting at the tragic end of the house’s former resident. Whispers echo, not just from the wind outside, but chilling reminders from a spectral hound warning me of the unseen dangers that lie ahead.

Additionally, Todd starts succumbing to a sinister sway, and Indiana Jones finds himself battling the wicked powers to rescue his cherished comrade.

According to Shudder’s Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Production, Emily Gotto, Ben Leonberg’s initial work offers a unique and chilling encounter from a distinct viewpoint in the realm of horror.

From my perspective as a devoted canine fan, this film immerses us deeply into the eyes of Indy, a fearful yet resilient dog whose intense longing to protect his human is palpable. The movie offers a chilling and moving experience that showcases an unexpected stellar performance from Indy himself, alongside a remarkable debut effort from director Leonberg, displaying a remarkable level of confidence for a first feature.

The movie garnered praise from critics after its screening at SXSW earlier this year. Specifically, Frank Scheck from The Hollywood Reporter commented that “Good Boy” effectively maintains tension and keeps the storyline engaging within its compact 73-minute duration.

In simpler terms, as stated by Meagan Navarro from Bloody Disgusting, Leonberg creates an emotionally charged depiction that shows just how frightening it feels for a dog when everything in its life suddenly changes and it doesn’t have the ability to comprehend what is happening.

Good Boy will stream on Shudder in the UK and US.
