New “full of twists” dark British thriller based on a “gripping page-turner” confirms cast
A new dark British thriller “full of twists” called Baby Doll has confirmed its cast.
The forthcoming Paramount+ series is adapted from the book with the same title penned by Hollie Overton, which was praised as an engaging page-turner by Glamour South Africa. It narrates the story of a twin sister’s abduction and the subsequent events as her captor attempts to elude justice.
The story revolves around the characters Lily and Abby, whose peaceful existence in an English countryside village is disrupted when their cherished community member, Rick Hansen, kidnaps Lily.
What to Read Next
Following numerous years of mistreatment in confinement, Lily manages to break free – yet finds that liberation also presents its own hurdles. The place she yearned for so dearly seems to have progressed without her.
With Abby, Lily, and their mom Eve trying to mend their family, they find themselves facing the lingering effects of past events and the chilling truth that Rick continues to be at large. He’s intent on manipulating the story and avoiding accountability.
It’s been verified that Alfie Allen from “Game of Thrones” is set to perform the role of Rick. Meanwhile, Jill Halfpenny from “The Long Shadow” has been cast as Eve. Additionally, Tallulah Evans and real-life sister Delphi Evans, both known for their roles in “The Full Monty”, will take on the characters of Lily and Abby respectively.
Additionally on board are Vikash Bhai from Virdee, Niamh Walsh hailing from Jamestown, Levi Brown representing This Town, Victoria Ekanoye known for Coronation Street, Holly Atkins of MobLand, and Kiran Krishnakumar who is famous for What it Feels Like For a Girl.
David Turpin, Suzanne Cowie, and Nessah Muthy have reworked the book, while Laura Way and Bindu de Stoppani will serve as the project’s directors.
As a gaming enthusiast excitedly sharing the news, I can’t help but feel immense pride in being part of the team that’s adapting Hollie Overton’s captivating and successful novel, Baby Doll (working title), for the big screen.
The gripping, psychologically complex narrative filled with unexpected plot twists makes for a thrilling ride from start to finish. We’re absolutely thrilled about this, as it marks Clapperboard’s initial collaboration with Paramount+ on a global scale.
Commissioner Sebastian Cardwell stated: “Baby Doll (working title) embodies the kind of captivating, deeply moving storytelling we’re proud to support on Paramount+ UK & Ireland. Boasting an exceptional creative team and a riveting plotline, this series is poised to become a remarkable addition to our original drama collection.
Baby Doll will stream on Paramount+.
