New “eccentric” UK detective drama with a puzzling twist is on TV tonight

Tonight, the comfortable crime series starring Phyllis Logan as a puzzle whiz solving homicides will be shown on television.

Under the fitting title “Murder Most Puzzling“, this drama features the renowned Downton Abbey actor playing the role of Cora Felton, a skilled crossword solver who lends her expertise to the authorities in solving a baffling case that demands her unique skills.

Tonight at 8pm on channel 5, the premiere of a television series based on Parnell Hall’s popular mystery books, “The Puzzle Lady Mysteries,” will be broadcast.

What to Read Next

Called the Puzzle Lady, Cora – the puzzle creator, is called upon when a corpse is discovered bearing a challenging crossword riddle.

The story unfolds in a made-up small town, where the main character, who is both clever and quick-witted, joins forces with Detective Chief Inspector Derek Hooper and the local law enforcement to tackle the town’s inaugural homicide investigation.

It appears that Cora’s closely-held secrets could potentially place her in peril, given that a killer is currently at large.

“The eccentric Cora isn’t who she claims to be,” the synopsis reads.

As she delves deeper into what could potentially be a linked old crime scene, she unearths a disturbing reality concerning the demise of another youthful lady.

“Cora puts herself in the killer’s sights. Which is a dangerous place to be.”

As a devoted viewer, I must add that the trio of Adam Best portraying DCI Hooper from Bakerbury Police, Nick Danan as DS Brody, and Jack Weise as PC Finley truly rounds off the series with their stellar performances. Each actor brings a unique depth to their roles, making the show even more captivating.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about the stellar cast gracing our screens! Alongside the main character, I’ll be watching Alistair Brammer as the charismatic journalist Anton Grant, Charlotte Hope portraying Cora’s niece, Sherry, and Yasmin Seky bringing Becky Baidwan, a sharp-witted lawyer, to life.

Murder Most Puzzling airs on 5.
