A police report about the recent fight involving actor Alan Ritchson, known for his role in the series Reacher, has surfaced, detailing the violent incident that took place in a peaceful Nashville neighborhood.
A fight broke out in Brentwood, Tennessee, on March 22nd. Video showed actor Joe Ritchson allegedly hitting Ronnie Taylor after an argument about Taylor’s loud motorcycle.
Taylor reportedly jumped in front of Ritchson’s bike, trying to slow him down as he was riding through the neighborhood, which led to a violent fight.
As a longtime supporter of Daniel Ritchson, I was relieved to hear the Brentwood Police Department determined he acted in self-defense. They’ve closed the case, and thankfully, he won’t be facing any charges. It’s a huge weight off my shoulders to know justice was served and he’s in the clear.
A recently released incident report, obtained by the Daily Mail, describes a disturbing encounter, with some officers observing signs that Taylor may have been intoxicated.
An officer reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol on Mr. Taylor.
The officer also detailed Mr. Taylor’s injuries, noting a large, bleeding bump on his forehead above his left eyebrow. He also observed redness and swelling on Taylor’s nose and the left side of his jaw and chin, consistent with a punch to the face. Additionally, Taylor had a scrape on the inside of his left forearm.
Taylor didn’t want medical attention at first, but after being examined, he explained to the officer that he was washing his motorcycle when he saw someone on a green bicycle speeding up and down Berwyn Court. Two children were riding behind the cyclist.
According to the report, Mr. Taylor stated that a motorcyclist was riding dangerously, so he stepped into the street while the rider returned on Berwyn Court and told him to stop, as children were playing nearby.
Taylor added that the biker fell, then got up, pushed him, and started swinging at him.
The report detailed what happened next as the situation became more heated. Taylor said Ritchson went back to his motorcycle, which caused Taylor to keep shouting.
According to the report, Mr. Ritchson turned and pushed the man to the ground, then continued to punch him while he was down. Mr. Taylor stated that Mr. Ritchson then left, and it was at that point that he called the police.
Officers reviewed video footage that appeared to corroborate much of the account.
According to one officer’s report, a witness video of the assault showed Alan Ritchson, the homeowner on Joslin Court, punching Mr. Taylor while he was on the grass near the sidewalk.
Mr. Taylor is on the ground as Mr. Ritchson punches him. Mr. Ritchson’s sons are watching from their motorcycles. After the attack, Mr. Ritchson attempts to ride off, but crashes his motorcycle into the curb, causing it to fall over.
The video showed Ritchson speeding up his motorcycle to try and get Taylor to move, then pushing him to the ground and hitting him repeatedly.
According to the report, the video shows the two men arguing, with Alan eventually pushing the other man down. The man, Ronnie, then confronted Alan, yelling at him. Alan then asked Ronnie if he’d been drinking.
I remember Alan telling us that Ronnie clearly smelled like he’d been drinking. The video then shows Alan getting back on his motorcycle after Ronnie started shouting at him. Alan then revved the engine, basically telling Ronnie to get out of the way.
It wasn’t clear exactly what led to it, but the video then shows Alan pushing Ronnie to the ground and hitting him repeatedly. After that, Alan gets on his bike, starts the engine, and the bike seems to fall over. Ronnie walks away, and Alan rides off, with his two children following behind.
Ritchson received some minor scrapes and bumps – a scraped elbow and jammed thumbs – but didn’t need to see a doctor.
A different officer detailed Taylor’s version of the chaotic encounter in their report.
Once the motorcycles were stopped, the Kawasaki rider fell off their bike. Mr. Taylor then told the rider, “You need to slow down, especially in residential areas like this!”
According to Mr. Taylor, after he told the driver something, the driver immediately began attacking him. The driver hit him repeatedly, then got back on the motorcycle, but Mr. Taylor pushed him again. This caused the driver to get off the bike and severely beat Mr. Taylor.
The officer continued, noting that Taylor claimed he had pleaded with the biker to slow down.
Mr. Taylor stated he told the driver of the Kawasaki motorcycle to stop driving recklessly, saying, “Could you please stop riding around like that? There are children present.” I then asked him to describe the driver and if he had any information about the motorcycle, like a license plate number.
Taylor also recounted being questioned about drinking during the altercation.
Mr. Taylor recounted the events, explaining that the motorcyclist had asked him if he’d been drinking. He confirmed that he had one drink earlier while watching soccer at home.
I didn’t detect any smell of alcohol on Mr. Taylor, but Officer Jones reported smelling it while talking to him.
According to another officer, Taylor stepped in front of Ritchson, forcing him to brake quickly and resulting in a collision.
According to the report, Taylor moved into Ritchson’s way, abruptly stopping him from a speed of around 17 miles per hour.
Ritchson unexpectedly slammed on the brakes, which caused him to crash and seemingly fly over the front of his motorcycle. He then asked Taylor, “Are you drunk? Have you been drinking?”
Taylor reports receiving a flood of hateful messages and threats from angry fans. He told TMZ he’s gotten over 100 disturbing messages, including one call where someone allegedly said they wanted to see him struggling to breathe.
Taylor said another caller – again from a blocked number – threatened to put him in a wheelchair.
As for the texts, he claims one message simply read, ‘Die, die, die.’
Taylor mentioned he briefly asked a police officer for advice. The officer suggested filing a formal complaint if Taylor felt truly unsafe, but Taylor currently considers the harassment to be online trolling and hasn’t reported it to the police.
These new statements follow Taylor’s announcement that he won’t sue Ritchson, emphasizing his desire to avoid a larger conflict.
