New details about upcoming Ewoks comic series teases something for all fans

As a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersed in the galaxy far, far away, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Marvel series, “Star Wars: Ewoks”. Growing up, the Ewoks were always my favorite characters, and I’ve been yearning for more stories that delve into their rich backstory.

A thrilling new comic miniseries titled “Star Wars: Ewoks” is on its way, and it promises to be nothing short of amazing! This four-issue Marvel series is set shortly after the events of “Return of the Jedi“. In this exciting tale, the beloved Ewoks find themselves in a fight for survival as they strive to safeguard the Forest Moon of Endor from ruthless bounty hunters, who are intent on seizing a valuable cache of Imperial weaponry.

In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, writer Steve Orlando shared some fascinating insights about the comic series. He disclosed that post the events of Return of the Jedi, the Ewoks pondered over the idea of forging connections with beings from different planets and other intelligent life forms residing on the Moon of Endor.

This upcoming series promises to offer us a unique perspective on how Ewoks perceive their place in the grand scheme of the galaxy, making it intriguing for enthusiasts. Orlando has confirmed that Wicket Wystri Warrick will lead the cast, and we’ll see familiar Ewok characters like Teebo, Chief Chirpa, Princess Kneesaa, and Logray. The elusive female Ewok warrior Asha is also expected to join the crew, along with a new character named Meedro, who fans are already curious about.

Apart from unveiling unexplored parts of the Forest Moon of Endor, the comic will delve into the deep affection Ewoks hold for their forest habitat and their relentless efforts to safeguard it. Their tenacity and courage will undoubtedly shine through in various scenes. Since Ewoks will converse using a blend of Ewokese and Galactic Basic throughout the story, readers can expect some funny moments as they try to communicate with characters who may struggle to comprehend them.

The interview featured a page from the comic in which a member of the Dulok species (who are distantly related to the Ewoks) was shown wounding an Imperial officer with a spear. The blood which was shown seeping from the officer’s wound indicates that this comic will be aiming for a relatively mature tone despite the juvenile reputation of the Ewoks. We also saw from the page that Zuckuss and 4-LOM, a bounty hunting duo introduced in The Empire Strikes Back, will appear in the book. At this rate, it certainly seems like this will be a series that fans will not be able to ignore.

In the Star Wars universe, Álvaro López and Laura Braga are set to visually bring the Ewoks to life in a new comic series. The debut issue of this exciting venture will hit shelves on October 9, 2024, courtesy of Marvel Comics.
