writer Scott Snyder gives fans a major update on the status of DC Comics’ Absolute Poison Ivy.
According to Bleeding Cool, Scott Snyder, the writer of Absolute Batman, has confirmed the debut of Absolute Poison Ivy. She’ll appear in issue #17 of Absolute Batman next year, and Snyder hints that her introduction will coincide with a significant reveal for fans.
Scott Snyder revealed that he and artist Nick Dragotta have already planned the overall story arc, envisioning it lasting around 35 to 40 issues. He also discussed the series’ themes, hoping it will show readers that characters like Batman are meant to evolve and reinvent themselves. He explained that Batman’s strength comes from confronting and utilizing his past struggles to improve the world.
Poison Ivy first appeared in the 1966 Batman comic, issue #181, in a story called “Beware of Poison Ivy!”. Originally, she was Pamela Isley, a kind-hearted and promising young botanist. However, she was experimented on by her professor, Jason Woodrue (also known as the Floronic Man), which gave her plant-based superpowers and transformed her into the villainess she’s known as today. Over time, she has evolved into a complex character, sometimes even acting as an unlikely and debated hero.
Who Else Can Fans Expect To See In DC’s Absolute Universe?
Poison Ivy is the newest classic DC villain to get the ‘Absolute’ treatment in the Absolute Batman series. Fans are excited for Absolute Batman #15, which will reveal a mystery hinted at in recent, unsettling images and posts. Earlier in November, writer Scott Snyder explained a detail from a variant cover for Absolute Joker #15: the red lines over the Joker’s eyes are actually his mouth, complete with teeth.
Before the story takes a dark turn with the Absolute Joker, fans can find Absolute Batman #14 in stores on November 26. A variant cover by artist Darrick Chew features a menacing Absolute Harley Quinn, poised to attack. Introduced in Absolute Batman #13, this version of Harley isn’t the Joker’s partner, but the leader of the Red Hood Gang – and she has her own motives for wanting to destroy his operation.
