Approximately two decades have passed since DC Comics and Marvel Comics last collaborated on a crossover featuring their iconic characters. Marvel broke the ice with their upcoming Deadpool/Batman comic book. Now, DC is following suit, announcing an equally enticing roster of characters, creators, and covers for Batman/Deadpool issue number one.

Grant Morrison, a comics legend who’s famously written iconic runs for Justice League and X-Men, as well as co-creating Damian Wayne Robin, is penning the primary narrative featuring The Dark Knight alongside Deadpool (Merc with a Mouth). Meanwhile, Dan Mora, renowned for his current work on Justice League Unlimited and World’s Finest, will be responsible for the interior illustrations.
Information about Batman/Deadpool’s narrative is somewhat hazy, blending elements of cosmic dread, playful film noir, and introspective literary exploration. It’s also promised to have “double the Grant Morrison-like Grant Morrison than ever before!” As a result, it won’t just be Wade Wilson who steps out of the scripted narrative.
What team-ups are in Batman/Deadpool #1?
In addition to the primary storyline, Batman/Deadpool #1 offers four engaging crossover tales penned by exceptional creative teams.
Or, for a slightly shorter version: Four more captivating team-up stories join the main event in Batman/Deadpool #1, brought to life by talented creators.
- Writers Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, and Joshua Williamson team with artist Hayden Sherman on a magical mystery starring John Constantine and Doctor Strange.
- The Eisner Award-winning team of Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo reunite to deliver a team-up between Nightwing and Laura Kinney: Wolverine.
- Harley Quinn faces Hulk in a story by writer Mariko Tamaki and artist Amanda Conner.
- Kamala Khan meets Virgil Hawkins in a story by Ms. Marvel co-creator G. Willow Wilson and Static co-creator Denys Cowan.
Apart from the four standard tales, the first issue of Batman/Deadpool promises an impressive array of 21 unique cover versions. Among them are a detailed sketch on blue cardstock, a panoramic artwork by Dan Mora, and a shimmering foil rendition of Dan Mora’s primary cover. A glimpse of all these eye-catching covers can be found below.
