New “daft” British murder mystery branded “a bit of silliness” divides cosy crime fans

As a gaming enthusiast, diving into the world of “Murder Most Puzzling”, I’ve found myself at odds with fellow viewers. This fresh detective series featuring the talented Phyllis Logan has sparked quite a debate, with some finding it entertaining and others labeling it as “daft”.

The Channel 5 series is adapted from Parnell Hall’s book series, featuring the “Downton Abbey” actor playing Cora Felton, a newspaper puzzle writer who relocates to a quiet market town and aids the local police in solving crimes. Alongside Charlotte Hope, Alistair Brammer, and Adam Best, this actor also takes on a role.

After the initial broadcast of two hours on Thursday (June 19), people have been sharing their opinions about the debut episode of the heartwarming mini-series on social media platforms. It appears that the events depicted in the show are causing a split among viewers.

One Facebook user commented, “I truly enjoyed it,” implying that despite some absurd moments, they found Phyllis Logan amusing. They plan to watch future episodes since there’s not much entertaining content on TV these days, and they could use a dose of silliness every now and then.

One enthusiastic viewer commented, “The detective brings to mind Will Mellor – I found it enjoyable. Currently, cozy crimes are quite trendy.” Another joined in, saying, “I eventually got hooked and will definitely watch the next installment.

One spectator found it acceptable to be playful and commented so, while another thought it was enjoyable though predictable. Another fan couldn’t hide their admiration, expressing their love for the initial episode out of the trio presented.

I might tune in for the next installment, but I can’t hide the fact that I wasn’t thrilled last night. Here’s hoping it picks up.

One viewer expressed regret for loving Charlotte Hope in the excellent series ‘Catch Me a Killer’ and mentioned they would watch the second episode, hoping for improvement. Another viewer, however, found it less favorable compared to five other crime series titled ‘The Madame Blanc Mysteries’.

As a gamer, I dived into the first episode of “Murder Most Puzzling,” finding it somewhat still discovering its unique identity. However, one aspect that truly stood out was the captivating portrayal of our puzzle whiz, Logan. His character, a blend of fun and bold, left me hooked and excited to see where the series would take him next.

Murder Most Puzzling continues on 5 on Thursday at 8pm.

The first printed issue of Digital Spy’s magazine, titled “British Comedy Legends,” is available! You can purchase it from your local newsstands or online for only £3.99.
