New Amsterdam’s Ryan Eggold to guest star in iconic US series

As a die-hard fan who has followed the Law & Order universe since its inception, I can confidently say that this latest news has sent me into a whirlwind of excitement! With Ryan Eggold, Elizabeth Marvel, and Maura Tierney joining the cast, it seems that Dick Wolf is pulling out all the stops to ensure that season 24 is nothing short of phenomenal.

New Amsterdam star Ryan Eggold has landed a guest role on Law & Order.

As reported by TVLine, the actor is set to appear in an episode from Season 24 of the crime drama series. In this role, he will portray Matt Riley, who is the brother of Detective Vince Riley, a character played by Reid Scott from “Veep,” who joined the cast during the previous season.

In the upcoming season, it’s been confirmed that Mariska Hargitay, known for her role on Law & Order: SVU, will appear again. Her character, Captain Olivia Benson, is planned to transition to the main series in a scheduled episode airing in October.

In the upcoming episode, Elizabeth Marvel will once again take on the character of Defense Attorney Rita Calhoun.

Currently, actress Maura Tierney from ER has been added to the main cast of Law & Order for its upcoming season. Although specifics about her role are being withheld, there’s speculation that she will portray a fresh lieutenant in the series.

In the upcoming season, the role previously played by Camryn Manheim as Lieutenant Kate Dixon will be taken over by Tierney’s character.

Prior to her departure, series creator Dick Wolf expressed his gratitude in a statement. He said: “I appreciate Camryn for her fantastic three seasons that helped us reboot Law & Order. She is an exceptional individual, and I wish her only the best as she embarks on her next journey.”

The announcement about Manheim leaving followed news that Sam Waterston, who played District Attorney Jack McCoy for over 400 episodes, had also decided to depart the series.

For over two decades, Waterston portrayed his role across 23 seasons of the series “Law & Order”, making him one of the original cast members who reprised their roles when the show was revived in 2021.

On Thursdays at 8 PM Eastern Time (ET), you can catch “Law & Order” on NBC. This is followed by “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” at 9 PM and “Law & Order: Organized Crime” at 10 PM. For viewers in the UK, these shows air on Sky Witness, with certain episodes also available on NOW.
