Netflix’s You confirms release date for fifth and final season
Netflix has announced when the fifth and final chapter of You will finally hit our screens.
In a twist of events, the highly anticipated psychological thriller featuring Penn Badgley as the enigmatic Joe Goldberg, which was initially slated for release in 2024, is now set to premiere on our streaming platform on the 24th of April.
Main character Joe returns to New York City, the place where his journey started in season 1, following a path of violence that led him through California and the United Kingdom.
In the grandiose summary for chapter 5 titled “epic”, character Joe goes back to New York City, intending to savor a blissful future with Kate Galvin, portrayed by Charlotte Ritchie, who has some inkling about his questionable deeds.
It appears that the seemingly flawless life of the power couple may not endure for much longer, as challenges from Joe’s history and his darker instincts seem to be surfacing.
Netflix has unveiled a sneak peek along with the release date, showing Joe reminiscing about his past at Mooney’s, an old bookstore where he used to work during the first season.
The shop basement served as a front for the killer’s kidnapping ordeals in the infamous glass cage.
There’s a strong possibility that the cage will resurface in season 5, and the closing moments of the trailer hint at Joe potentially being the one trapped within it.
Joining Badgley and Ritchie in the fifth installment is recurring actress Tati Gabrielle, who reprises her role as Marienne Bellamy – a character whom Joe became infatuated with during seasons 3 and 4.
The team is completed by Madeline Brewer, who takes on the role of playwright and bookseller Bronte, Anna Camp who portrays both Raegan and Maddie Lockwood, Griffin Matthews as Teddy Lockwood, and Nava Mau, known from Baby Reindeer, as Marquez.
You season 5 will stream on Netflix on April 24.
