Netflix’s “weirdly enjoyable” and “trashy” romance drama confirms return date

The entertaining yet unconventional teenage series, “My Life With the Walter Boys,” available on Netflix, is set to release its second season in the coming month.

After a break of two years, the cast members have finally set a comeback date on Thursday, 28 August, as announced during this year’s Calgary Stampede event.

The streamer generously shared exclusive on-set snapshots featuring Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde, Ashby Gentry, and Sarah Rafferty with the audience.

According to Ali Novak’s 2014 novel titled “My Life With the Walter Boys”, the story revolves around Jackie Howard (played by Rodriguez), a 15-year-old girl who is grieving the unexpected demise of her cherished parents and sister, Lucy.

Moving from the bustling Manhattan life I was accustomed to, I found myself unexpectedly residing with my mother’s dearest friend, Katherine (Sarah Rafferty), her husband George (Marc Blucas), and their brood of ten little ones, in the serene town of Silver Falls, Colorado. This new gaming world has a lot more characters than I initially anticipated!

Jackie is determined to escape her small town and secure a spot at Princeton, but complications arise when she’s drawn to both Alex (Gentry) and Cole (LaLonde), two Walter brothers. Clearly, her life becomes more tangled than ever before.

At present, specifics about the plot for season two are being tightly guarded. Nonetheless, viewers are eagerly anticipating the series to tackle the aftermath of Jackie’s shocking departure from Silver Falls.

As reported by Rodriguez (through Tudum), Jackie is “struggling to find her place this season”. Moreover, she stated that “she’s certainly not aiming to discard any part of herself, instead striving to ensure harmony between the different aspects of her personality”.

Although the television series “My Life With the Walter Boys” received a 42% critical approval on Rotten Tomatoes, it has garnered positive feedback from Netflix viewers.

Before the second season finale even airs, it’s been confirmed that Netflix will release a third installment of the show, scheduled for 2026.

“We’ve got a lot of things to do,” showrunner Melanie Halsall remarked to Tudum.

Season 2 of My Life With the Walter Boys will land on Netflix on Thursday, 28 August.
