The streaming service continues to captivate audiences with an unending flow of fresh movies and TV shows. Recently, it launched Season 2 of a critically acclaimed South African action crime drama series, which has earned a top spot among the platform’s finest action-thriller offerings. Moreover, this show has been stirring up emotions with its powerfully moving narrative, leaving fans in tears.
The character Zenzi (Gail Mabalane), initially appearing as an ordinary cleaner, finds her life unraveling when her husband inexplicably vanishes. As she embarks on a frantic quest to find him, she unwillingly plunges into a dark criminal underworld filled with menacing gangsters and corrupt authorities. This unexpected turn of events forces Zenzi to challenge herself and reveal hidden strengths that she never thought she possessed. The first season effectively set the stage for Zenzi’s captivating storyline, garnering acclaim from viewers who tuned in to follow her journey.
I’ve found myself completely engrossed once again in Zenzi’s gripping and heart-wrenching saga, as she tirelessly pursues her lost spouse, leaving a trail of sorrow and lifeless forms behind. Remarkably, the series has elicited an array of unforeseen emotions while serving up a generous dose of action and tension. As one viewer put it on their X account, “This show is devastating me emotionally.” Another viewer commented, “I didn’t anticipate shedding tears at 2 a.m. over this, but here I am.
Is ‘Unseen’ Worth Watching on Netflix?

For the television series titled “Unseen“, the number of critical reviews may not be overwhelming on Rotten Tomatoes, but the ones that exist certainly recommend it as a captivating watch. Archi Sengupta from “LeisureByte.com” praises the second season, calling it “an exhilarating examination of Zenzi’s revenge culminating in a heroic finale with an added bonus of many more deceased characters.” On the other hand, Pramit Chatterjee of “Digital Mafia Talkies” delves into some of the underlying themes in the show. He suggests that while there’s currently one South African dominating the spotlight and headlines (without naming names to avoid a lawsuit), they should be made aware that the people of their country have expressed their displeasure through “Unseen” Season 2.
Viewers haven’t fully sunk their teeth into Season 2 yet, but Season 1 was widely acclaimed as an “engrossing” viewing experience, featuring a “powerful female protagonist.” After a two-year hiatus, fans eagerly anticipating Zenzi’s next chapter can now catch up on her adventures.
Although Unseen might lack the financial backing of well-known actors from popular Hollywood series with comparable themes, this very aspect can make it a more enriching viewing experience. Without the distraction of a familar face reenacting roles they’ve played many times, Unseen delivers on its title by offering Netflix subscribers an opportunity to immerse themselves in a storyline without recognizing any of the characters. As films like Havoc and Exterritorial continue to dominate the cinema charts, it is plausible that Unseen could gradually pick up steam on the television front in the near future.
