She used to be quick to form opinions about both Mickey and the people he defended, but now she realizes every situation has two sides. While Mickey ultimately delivers, Maggie deserves the credit for setting everything up and providing crucial support – he couldn’t have succeeded without her.

I really think this storyline is going to make people see Maggie in a new light. A lot of us fans haven’t been thrilled with her – she often came across as judgmental, especially towards Mickey and how he does things. It felt like she always held herself above him. A lot of the criticism aimed at her, even though she’s a great character in a fantastic Netflix show, stemmed from that self-righteousness. But honestly, those who’ve read the Michael Connelly books will tell you that’s just who Maggie is – a strong, principled woman who isn’t afraid to stand up for what she believes in.

Before the fourth season began, one Reddit user, lemininit, described Maggie as a frustrating character, pointing out her constant frowning and negativity towards Mickey. Another user, Witty-Bus07, suggested Maggie’s presence in the show seems to be due to her appearance in the original books and movie, but that she doesn’t contribute much to the series itself.

This season marks a real shift in how viewers see the characters. What makes Maggie’s storyline in Season 4 of The Lincoln Lawyer so interesting is how her relationship with Mickey develops. Mickey’s reliance on and trust in her reveals a lot about his feelings. Maggie begins to understand how much losing Mickey would affect her. Throughout the season, it becomes clear that Maggie hasn’t fully moved on from Mickey, despite trying to convince herself – and others – that she has.
