Netflix’s The Diplomat announces new season 3 cast with first look
Netflix has officially announced the cast for “The Diplomat” season three, offering a sneak peek at some behind-the-scenes photos showing them in character.
In the upcoming third season, Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell will once again step into the shoes of characters Kate and Hal Wyler, respectively. Additionally, Allison Janney is set to reappear as Vice President Grace Penn, a character who made her entrance into the political drama in season 2.
In our upcoming episode, Bradley Whitford will be joining us as Todd Penn, the Vice President’s husband. This is a screen reunion for him and Janney, as they previously worked together on “The West Wing.
Initially, there’s a single image that reveals the four principal actors seemingly attending a cozy gathering, seated around a shared table, each with a different cocktail in hand, poised to savor some oysters together.
Another scene displays Janney and Whitford conversing casually with their off-screen guests, comfortably seated on a couch, while a separate photograph tantalizes Russell and Sewell, depicting them as the troubled Wylers in an unhappy marriage.
It’s been hinted that season 3 will be available on Netflix this year, with a promise of additional political drama for the characters Kate and Hal.
It was announced that the third season of “The Diplomat” would be produced before the second season even premiered, with its first episode arriving on Netflix in late October.
In the second season, it wasn’t until episode five that we first saw Janney portraying VP Grace Penn. Her character, along with her conflict with Kate, is anticipated to be given more focus in the upcoming third season.
The upcoming season of Netflix’s series hasn’t announced its returning cast members just yet, but there’s speculation that Rory Kinnear as Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge, David Gyasi as Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison, Miguel Sandoval as aide Miguel Ganon, Eidra Graham as Ali Ahn, and Billie Appiah as Nana Mensah will be among them.
The Diplomat season 1 and 2 are available to stream now on Netflix.
