Netflix’s Squid Game renewed for final season as return date revealed
As a die-hard fan of Squid Game, I can barely contain my excitement! After three long years of waiting, we’re finally getting not one, but TWO more seasons! It feels like Christmas came early this year!
Netflix has made two huge announcements about the future of Squid Game.
It’s confirmed: the anticipated second season of our favorite show is set to premiere on December 26, 2024 – mark your calendars! But here’s a surprise twist – Squid Game has already been granted an early renewal for its third and ultimate season, which will air in 2025.
A message penned by the original showmaster, Hwang Dong-hyuk, has surfaced on Netflix’s official American Instagram page, shedding light on why the series is coming to an end.
Almost three years have passed since Season 1 of our show was greeted with extraordinary acclaim worldwide, and a lot of unexpected things transpired in that time, as written by Hwang Dong-hyuk.
“The first day of filming Season 2, I found myself amazed, ‘I can’t believe I’m returning to the universe of Squid Game again.’ It was almost like a dream. I wonder if you’ll have the same feeling when you return to the world of Squid Game after three years.”
In the continuation of the story, Seong Gi-hun swears to carry out his promised vengeance. Once more, he finds himself immersed in the game. But can he achieve his vengeance, given that Front Man appears to be a formidable adversary this time around?
“The battle between their realms will persist until the series concludes with season 3, airing next year. I can’t wait to see how the initial idea for a new ‘Squid Game’ evolves and reaches its climax in this narrative. We’ll strive to deliver another exhilarating journey.”
Although the storyline of the TV show “Squid Game” is set to conclude next year, fans can look forward to more from this franchise as Netflix has announced that the reality show format “Squid Game: The Challenge” will come back for a second season.
As a devoted fan of Korean dramas and someone who has spent countless hours binge-watching series on Netflix, I can confidently say that the hype surrounding “Squid Game” and its spinoff “Squid Game: The Challenge” is well-deserved. Having grown up in South Korea and being fascinated by the country’s unique culture and entertainment industry, I eagerly awaited the release of these shows, and they have not disappointed.
