According to Rotten Tomatoes, Troll 2 has a critic score of 58% based on 12 reviews, and viewers give it a 39% rating from over 50 reviews. The first Troll movie fares much better, with a 90% critic score from 29 reviews and a 50% audience score from more than 1,000 ratings.

Reviews for the sequel are mixed. Some viewers found it too similar to the first film, and even a bit worse. Others expressed strong disappointment, with one reviewer calling it a complete failure and criticizing its overall quality.
