Netflix is moving forward with its live-action Assassin’s Creed series, having recently hired a director and already cast actors, including someone known from Euphoria.
Johan Renck, the Swedish director known for the Emmy-winning HBO mini-series Chernobyl, will direct the new series, as reported by Variety.
The series will feature actors Toby Wallace, known for his role in Euphoria; Lola Petticrew, who starred in Say Nothing; Zachary Hart from Slow Horses; and Laura Marcus, who appeared in Bad Education.

Netflix first revealed plans for an Assassin’s Creed series in 2020. Initially, Jeb Stuart, known for Die Hard, was set to write and lead the show. However, in July, Netflix announced that David Wiener and Roberto Patino would now be the showrunners.
I’ve been a huge Assassin’s Creed fan since the first game came out in 2007, and working on this show has been amazing. Every day, my partner and I are just blown away by all the cool stuff Assassin’s Creed lets us explore and create. It’s honestly really exciting and makes us feel pretty lucky.

Beyond the exciting action and impressive visuals, at its heart, this story is about fundamental human experiences. It explores people’s search for meaning in life, their battles with who they are, and their beliefs about fate. It also delves into themes of power, conflict, desire, ambition, and revenge.
Ultimately, this show celebrates the importance of people connecting with each other, regardless of their backgrounds or when they lived. It also explores what we risk losing as humans when those bonds are broken.
Details about the show’s storyline are scarce, but it centers around a hidden conflict between two groups: one trying to control humanity’s destiny, and the other fighting to protect individual freedom.

The show tracks its characters through important moments in history as they fight to determine the future of humankind.
Deadline also shared that filming will start in Italy in early 2026, and the series will be set there.
This series will be the first time the world of Assassin’s Creed is brought to life as a live-action TV show. The video game was previously made into a movie in 2016, starring Michael Fassbender.
Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed has no release date.
