Netflix’s freshly released thriller series, Untamed, has soared in popularity, swiftly claiming the title of the most-viewed TV programming in multiple nations just three days after its debut.
The current broadcast from the streamer is garnering global attention, having climbed to number one in popular markets such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and Canada, among other nations.
In a more conversational style: The movie “Untamed” features Eric Bana as Kyle Turner, an agent for the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch (ISB) at Yosemite National Park. He gets involved in a case when a woman’s body is discovered within the park, requiring him to unravel the mystery.
Kyle, a man still grappling with the heartbreaking six-year-old memory of losing his young son, works in tandem with his guide and mentor, Paul Souter (Sam Neill), who serves as the chief park ranger in Yosemite.
Additionally featured are Rosemarie DeWitt portraying Kyle’s former spouse Jill Bodwin, a woman who previously worked as a teacher, and Lily Santiago in the role of NPS ranger Naya Vasquez, a newcomer to Yosemite from Los Angeles who is also working alongside Kyle on the murder investigation.
In this version, Wilson Bethel portrays Shane Maguire, a former Army ranger who has transitioned to a wildlife management role within Yosemite. Meanwhile, Josh Randall takes on the character of Scott, the recent spouse of Jill.
Crafted by screenwriter Mark L Smith and Elle Smith, the intriguing thriller titled “Untamed” is known for its gripping murder mystery plotline and shockingly unforeseen twists as per IMDb audience reviews.
Currently, the show boasts an impressive 79% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 38 reviews, and has been certified as “Fresh”.
Some reviewers have been commending Banas’s acting and the script, yet they also admit that the narrative might seem a bit repetitive at times.
According to Slate’s review, Bana and Smith have a knack for maintaining your interest, even when storylines seem repetitive. In the warm months, we all become sightseers. The Yosemite narrative strikes an ideal balance, the Vulture notes, but finds the series less compelling after its powerful opening scene.
