Netflix’s New Detective Series With 90% RT Score Becomes Instant Global Hit

Netflix‘s new detective series steals the streamer’s top spot in no time.

Detective shows are consistently popular on Netflix, and the streaming service’s latest offering is no exception. All eight episodes of the new 2026 series were released at once, adding to Netflix’s collection of captivating binge-worthy content. Released in the same month as the return of the acclaimed thriller The Chestnut Man after a five-year break, this new series is a fitting successor. Similar to The Chestnut Man, the show is gripping and dramatic, quickly becoming a hit on Netflix charts around the world.

The new Netflix crime series, Nemesis, is quickly becoming a global hit. According to FlixPatrol, it’s currently the second most-watched TV show on Netflix worldwide. Just one day after all eight episodes of season one were released on May 14th, Nemesis had already become the 6th most popular show on the platform. Now, after only a few days, it’s climbed to its highest position on the global charts, surpassing shows like The Chestnut Man, Man on Fire, Devil May Cry, and Legends.

As of today, only one show has outperformed Nemesis on Netflix’s worldwide Top 10 list: Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine, the latest installment in the Berlin spin-off series connected to Money Heist. Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine premiered on Netflix on May 15th, just one day after the first season of Nemesis. This new crime series from Netflix is currently a top hit in an impressive 81 countries and is the number one show in 12 countries, including Jamaica, Nigeria, and South Africa.

Currently, Nemesis is the third most popular show on Netflix in the US. It’s performing well nationwide, surpassing series like La Brea, Worst Ex Ever, and Between Father and Son. In the US, Nemesis is even more popular than Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine, which is currently ranked 10th. Only The Roast of Kevin Hart and the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano event are more-watched than Nemesis in the United States.

The new Netflix crime series Nemesis has received high praise from critics, currently holding a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, viewers haven’t been as impressed, giving the first season a 42% audience score. These ratings are likely to change as more people watch the show. Nemesis centers on the intense rivalry between LAPD detective Isaiah Stiles (Matthew Law) and seasoned criminal Coltrane Wilder (Y’lan Noel). While the creators hope Nemesis will run for multiple seasons, Netflix hasn’t yet announced whether it will be renewed for a second season.
