Netflix’s latest action thriller is Speed on a bullet train – watch the exciting trailer now
The streaming service, Netflix, has unveiled a sneak peek for an upcoming Japanese action film titled “Bullet Train Explosion“. It’s scheduled to arrive on their platform in April.
Under the guidance of Shinji Higuchi, who also directed “Shin Godzilla”, this movie serves as a modern-day reinterpretation of the 1975 classic film “The Bullet Train”. This original tale was among the primary influences for the blockbuster hit, “Speed”, featuring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.
In essence, the plotline of “Bullet Train Explosion” shares some similarities with that of “Speed“, as both stories unfold on enclosed vehicles moving continuously – in one case, a train, and in the other, a bus circling Los Angeles. The key difference is that if the bus stops in “Speed“, a bomb hidden aboard will detonate.
In the forthcoming film, the safety on board the Hayabusa 60 bullet train heading towards Tokyo is jeopardized as there’s a bomb that will explode instantaneously if the speed drops below 100 miles per hour.
With the hijacker demanding a ¥100 billion ransom for the safety of all passengers, the train staff and authorities must collaborate to disarm the bomb and identify the culprit.
In the movie’s first trailer, train conductor Kazuya Takaichi (played by Tsuyoshi Kusanagi) emphasizes their primary goal: “Ensuring our passengers reach their destination safely is why we exist.” You can watch it at the beginning of this article.
As a dedicated gamer named Chika Matsumoto, I’ve sworn an unwavering oath: “I will never give up.” Yet, it seems the government’s ambitions often collide with the needs and rights of us, the hardworking train crew members.
A diverse assortment of people traveling by bullet train, the shinkansen, included political representative Kagami from the House of Representatives (Machiko Ono), internet personality Todoroki (Jun Kaname), and student Yuzuki Onodera (Hana Toyoshima).
In the meantime, Takumi Saitoh takes on the role of Kasagi, the superior officer in charge of the Shinkansen General Operation Control Center, who is orchestrating the rescue mission from a distance.
Bullet Train Explosion is released on Netflix on April 23.
