The new holiday movie, Jingle Bell Heist, is now available on Netflix. You can decide if it will become one of your yearly festive favorites, alongside classics like Elf, Love Actually, and Home Alone. While those choices are popular, some people might have more unusual picks for their holiday movie traditions.
Everyone’s tired of the endless debate about whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie (it is!), but thankfully, Jingle Bell Heist sparks a similar discussion. Two security guards briefly argue about it – one suggests watching Batman Returns as a festive treat, but the other isn’t sure it counts as a Christmas film.
We asked Olivia Holt and Connor Swindells, the stars of Jingle Bell Heist, what they thought about whether Tim Burton’s Batman Returns should be considered a Christmas movie.
What to Read Next
While not traditionally a Christmas film, watching it during the holidays just feels right, according to Holt. Swindells admitted he hadn’t actually seen the movie, but still offered his opinion: “I’d say it is a Christmas movie.”
So there you have it. Whether you’ve seen it or not, Batman Returns is a Christmas movie.

If you’re looking for a Christmas movie, check out Jingle Bell Heist. It’s about two small-time thieves, Sophia and Nick, who plan to rob a famous London department store on Christmas Eve. As they get closer to pulling off the heist, they also start to fall for each other.
Swindells hopes audiences will simply enjoy the movie now that it’s available on Netflix. He said, “I want people to laugh, have fun, and experience joy. That’s why I made it – to be enjoyed with family and loved ones. That’s really what it’s all about.”
Now that she’s made a Christmas movie, Holt is excited about future projects. She’s enjoyed blending different genres in her work recently, and finds it creatively fulfilling.
I’m thinking of making a big change to my appearance and overall style. I’m not quite sure what aesthetic I’m going for – maybe something dramatic, but I’m still figuring it out. Honestly, I think I’m just going to shave my head.
Jingle Bell Heist is out now on Netflix.
