Olympo, the “irresistible” Spanish-language drama from Netflix, has raced up the streaming charts.
The eight-episode show centers around a select band of gifted athletes attending a specialized institution geared towards cultivating skill. As friendships blossom, competition and hidden truths dominate, with tension escalating moment by moment.
Earlier this week, Netflix debuted a highly popular drama that quickly climbed up its global rankings. In fact, it currently stands at number 2 among the most-watched TV series on Netflix over the last two days, according to FlixPatrol’s data.
Among all shows competing within the same timeframe, only Kevin Williamson’s “The Waterfront” has outshone “Olympo”. This means that as I write, “The Waterfront” is currently the most successful non-English language series streaming out there.
Although it enjoys widespread appeal among common audiences, Olympo has been met with a diverse range of opinions from critics. At present, it boasts a 50% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on the assessments of six reviewers.

According to Collider, the intriguing, highly driven, and cutthroat characters are captivating, and the location serves as a stunning backdrop that the creators have effectively utilized for high entertainment. They labeled it as “full of steamy moments, unexpected twists, and frequently bursting with energy.
According to Loud and Clear Reviews, Olympo offers a captivating season filled with unexpected twists and turns that leave viewers on the edge of their seats until the very last frame. On the other hand, LeisureByte found the series hard to resist binge-watching, despite its unsympathetic and unpleasant characters.
A similar viewpoint was expressed, with TV Fanatic commenting that dislikable characters hindered one’s ability to cheer for them, and The Decider suggesting that the storyline might be stronger if it were more cohesive.
Although Olympo has enjoyed a substantial viewership, it has received a blend of positive and negative feedback from viewers. On IMDb, it holds an average rating of 5.8, based on more than 1,200 reviews.

One viewer expressed their enthusiasm by saying, “This series is unique yet impressive, and the characters’ growth and depth is incredibly captivating.” Another viewer praised it as one of the “best shows” they had recently seen on Netflix in quite some time.
Olympo is streaming now on Netflix.
