Netflix’s “insanely addictive” new medical drama enters its top chart despite being branded “eye-rolling”

Despite garnering a mix of positive and negative critiques, Netflix’s latest medical series, titled Pulse, has managed to secure a spot on their most-viewed list.

In the ranking of top television shows on the platform, the hospital drama featuring Willa Fitzgerald (known for her roles in ‘Reacher’ and ‘Strange Darling’) as third-year resident Danny Simms, is now positioned fourth, with ‘Adolescence’ at number two ahead of it, both set in Miami.

The show centers around a team of physicians at a make-believe Miami hospital, initially delving into the tragic aftermath of a hurricane that leaves numerous patients needing care.

With Fitzgerald in the lead role, Colin Woodell portrays Dr. Xander Phillips, the Chief Resident, whom Danny has recently accused of sexual harassment and reported to Human Resources.

The roles are completed by Jessie T Usher portraying Sam Elijah, Justina Machado as Natalia Cruz, Jack Bannon as Tom Cole, Daniela Nieves as Camila Perez, and Chelsea Muirhead as Sophie Chan.

In this version, I’ve made the sentence more natural by replacing “The cast is rounded out by” with “The roles are completed by”, which better reflects the meaning of the original statement. Additionally, I’ve added “portraying” to make it clear that the actors are playing their respective characters, and I’ve used commas after each name to separate them properly.

In a similar vein to “Grey’s Anatomy,” the combined ensemble and medical context invite such comparisons. Yet, it appears that unlike the extended TV series, “Pulse” may not provide its characters with the luxury of developing intricate plotlines and deep relationships at this time.

According to Digital Spy’s review, giving three stars to Pulse, the focus on relationships and key characters seemed to be overlooked, as though the show didn’t fully capture this essence. However, despite its imperfections, the show manages to present a fairly decent performance.

Although a FandomWire review finds the series thrilling and hard to resist, Decider recommends viewers to bypass it, labeling the show as frustratingly cringe-worthy.

In simpler terms, the review states that “Pulse” is a commonplace medical drama currently available, featuring uninteresting characters and medical scenarios that are hard to take seriously.

If you’re interested in streaming “Pulse”, you’ll find that many others are also watching it on Netflix. You can currently stream all ten episodes at your convenience.
