The popular sci-fi series *Alice in Borderland*, which is based on a manga by Haro Asō, recently returned to Netflix with a third season and has become a huge hit.
The show follows Ryōhei Arisu and Yuzuha Usagi, who suddenly find themselves in a dangerous alternate world called the Borderland. To survive, they must compete in deadly games.
The series first launched in 2020, with a second season following in 2022. After a three-year break, the highly anticipated third season became available on Netflix this Thursday, September 25th, much to the delight of fans.

After a long wait, the series quickly became a hit, reaching the top of Netflix’s TV charts worldwide in its first two days. It even outperformed other popular shows like *Billionaires’ Bunker* (according to FlixPatrol).
The show has also done well in the UK, currently ranking at number four. It’s behind three other popular series: *House of Guinness* starring James Norton, *Wayward* with Mae Martin, and *Lioness* featuring Zoe Saldaña. This is an improvement from Friday, when it was at number five.

The new season begins with Arisu devastated when Usagi is kidnapped by Ryuji, who is fixated on the afterlife. However, he learns from Banda that Usagi was taken back to the mysterious Borderland-where Banda now resides-and immediately sets out on a mission to rescue her, according to a recent announcement from Tudum.
As soon as he enters, he’s thrown into a deadly game filled with threats like flaming arrows and electric shocks. He discovers there’s only one card left: the Joker. Will his teammates be able to help him survive and reach the end? Or will everyone fail, leaving Usagi and Arisu unable to return home safely?

Okay, so the third season isn’t hitting quite the same high notes as the first two, at least according to critics. I checked Rotten Tomatoes, and it’s sitting at 60% approval, which is a noticeable drop from the 82% and 91% the first two seasons got. It’s still watchable, but it seems like people aren’t loving it as much.
Even so, the show has received a lot of positive feedback from viewers, earning a strong 7.8/10 rating on IMDb. One viewer described it as a thrilling, binge-worthy experience, saying it’s the perfect choice if you want a captivating series that will keep you up all night.
