Okay, so I just finished the new mystery thriller, and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride. It takes the idea that everyone has a side to their story and really runs with it, throwing in tons of twists and turns. Seeing these two familiar faces from the MCU leading the cast is a huge plus! The premise is fantastic: a news anchor goes back home after a murder, and a detective immediately suspects she’s not telling the truth. Basically, the show plays on the idea that someone always lies, and it’s packed with enough deception and suspicion to keep you hooked for a serious binge-watch. Trust me, you’ll be questioning everything!
Based on Alice Feeney’s 2020 novel, the series features Jaimie Alexander (known for Thor: Ragnarok) as Anna, a former news anchor who has withdrawn from life. She becomes fascinated by a murder in her quiet hometown of Dahlonega. Joining her is Ben Barnes, famous for his role in The Punisher, playing Jack, Anna’s estranged husband and a detective recently returned to Dahlonega, Georgia, after losing his previous job.
The show also stars Pablo Schreiber (known from Halo and Den of Thieves), Crystal Fox (Suits: LA), Sunita Mani (GLOW), and Rebecca Rittenhouse (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood). His & Hers is a limited series with eight episodes, making it perfect to watch all at once when it premieres on Netflix on January 8, 2026. Read on for the official description, a new trailer, and more details about the show.
I’m a sucker for a good mystery, and this one hooked me immediately. It’s about Anna, a news anchor in Atlanta who’s kind of lost herself after something in her past. She’s withdrawn and barely connecting with anyone. Then, she catches wind of a murder up in Dahlonega, her hometown, and suddenly she’s totally engaged, digging into the case herself. But here’s the thing – a detective named Jack Harper doesn’t trust her involvement at all, and his suspicion actually puts her right in the middle of his investigation. It’s a really compelling setup!
‘His & Hers’ Promises to Deliver a Sexy, Pulpy Crime Thriller Mystery
Dee Johnson, the producer of Fellow Travelers, is the showrunner, executive producer, and writer for His & Hers. William Oldroyd (Lady Macbeth) directed the first episode and also serves as an executive producer and writer. Tessa Thompson, an executive producer on the show, told Netflix Tudum that she was attracted to the crime thriller because of her co-star Jon Bernthal and William Oldroyd’s unique vision, which she describes as more thrilling and provocative than viewers might anticipate.
I always imagined myself as the one being pursued in the relationship. Once we decided who would play the male role – and we were thrilled Jon agreed, and luckily he was enthusiastic – things quickly became much more passionate and intense.
I’m a huge admirer of William Oldroyd’s work and was immediately excited to collaborate with him. I especially like partnering with directors who are trying something new – this was his first time directing television. He was interested in creating a more provocative and serialized story than he’d done before.
