Netflix thriller branded “painfully dumb” and “a waste of time” by viewers is now trending worldwide
The recently released Netflix mystery movie, which garnered predominantly unfavorable feedback from viewers, is steadily rising in popularity globally.
As a fervent enthusiast, let me clarify that I’m not referring to the 2005 Rian Johnson movie with the same title. Instead, I’m delving into the gripping German thriller, “Brick,” which chronicles the plight of a couple whose apartment has been enclosed by what appears to be an impregnable wall of black bricks.
The movie features Matthias Schweighöfer from “Army of the Dead” and Ruby O. Fee from “Army of Thieves,” portraying characters named Tim and Olivia. This couple has been struggling due to a recent miscarriage, causing them to face some difficult times together.

Eager for a new beginning, Olivia is considering relocating to Paris and inviting Tim along, but he seems reluctant, immersing himself more deeply in his role as a video game programmer instead.
When she feels overwhelmed, Olivia chooses to depart on her own. In the stillness of the night, she gathers her belongings and prepares to make a hasty exit. Yet, upon opening the front door, she recognizes that neither of them have the freedom to step outside.
It appears that some critics on IMDb find the initial concept underdeveloped, as one viewer described it as a “grandmother of all badly executed films.” Another critic labeled the movie “mind-numbingly dull,” suggesting it was painfully unintelligent.
Another individual labeled the movie “Brick” as both “arrogant” and “meaningless,” advising potential viewers to avoid it because it’s essentially a “time-waster.
They commented that the statement appears overly dramatic and confusing, suggesting that merely having a fedora and complicated dialogue doesn’t automatically turn a film into a noir style.
Regardless of the highly critical comments from viewers who endured its 1 hour and 39-minute duration, the film Brick is gaining popularity on Netflix’s trending list.
Currently, the movie with the highest viewership on the streaming platform is dominating, having debuted at the top position in its home country, Germany, and maintaining that position for three days now. Remarkably, it’s also holding strong in Belgium, France, Italy, Portugal, and Spain, where it has seized the number one spot. This film has demonstrated impressive popularity not just within Europe but also beyond its borders.
In various countries like Argentina, Brazil, and Egypt, as well as others, it has risen to the top spot, and currently in the United States, “Brick” ranks third among the most-viewed movies on Netflix.
Brick is streaming globally on Netflix.
