Netflix shares You season 5 release update after apparent delay

As a die-hard fan of the twisted, gripping drama series “You”, I must say, the wait for season 5 has been torturous – much like Joe Goldberg’s love life! The news that it will finally arrive in 2025 might as well be next year for all I care! But hey, at least we’re getting more of Penn Badgley’s chilling portrayal of Joe. As for the new cast members, I can’t wait to see what Madeline Brewer and Nava Mau bring to the table. I mean, if they can survive in Gilead and a baby reindeer herd, they must be tough cookies! Here’s hoping they don’t end up as Joe’s next obsession… or victim. So, mark your calendars for 2025, fellow fans. Let’s just hope that by then, Joe has found a new hobby other than stalking and murdering women. Maybe knitting? Now that would be a delightfully twisted conclusion!

Netflix has announced a delay for the release of You‘s fifth season, confirming that it will be coming out later than initially anticipated.

Last year, when the news broke about the show getting renewed, we learned that its fifth and concluding season would premiere in 2024.

Despite not happening as initially planned, the streamer has now announced that the premiere is set for 2025, following what appears to be a delay.

“Goodbye, you,” they wrote on X/Twitter. “The killer final season of YOU is coming in 2025.”

The upcoming season signifies the concluding act in the tale of serial killer Joe Goldberg, portrayed by Penn Badgley. Previously, creator Sera Gamble, who is relinquishing her role as showrunner for the final episodes, hinted at a “delightfully twisted ending”.

Working together on this production with our team of writers, producers, directors, actors, and technicians has been both a privilege and an absolute blast, she stated. I consider myself fortunate to have collaborated with such a talented and considerate individual as Penn Badgley.

As a devoted admirer, I’m swelling with pride over what we’ve jointly achieved, and it’s an honor beyond words to hand over the reins. I can hardly contain my anticipation as I eagerly look forward to cheering on you all as you steer Joe Goldberg’s captivating tale towards its enthralling finale.

For the upcoming fifth season, we’ll see some fresh faces joining our cast, such as Madeline Brewer from “The Handmaid’s Tale” and Nava Mau, known for her work in “Baby Reindeer.

More casually, she shared with Radio Times that it’s amazing to switch things up and bring a fresh character to life in a genre that’s quite distinct from her previous work.

“I’d never done something that was so plot-driven before,” she added. “It was amazing.”

You seasons 1-4 are streaming on Netflix. A fifth and final season has been announced.
