As a gamer who grew up in the ’90s, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming sequel to one of my all-time favorite movies – Happy Gilmore 2! I remember watching the original film countless times and quoting lines from it like they were my own words. The news that production is underway feels like a dream come true!
Netflix has shared an exciting update on the long-awaited Happy Gilmore 2.
On Monday (September 9), the streaming platform shared on social media that the production of the comedy sequel has begun, featuring a sneak peek of Happy’s iconic Boston Bruins jersey on set.
Adam Sandler posted the very same image on Instagram, quoting a well-known phrase from the 1996 sporty comedy.
“It ain’t over. The way I see it… we’ve only just begun,” he wrote alongside the photo.
Earlier this year, it was revealed at Netflix’s Upfront event that Adam Sandler will once again embody his legendary character in an upcoming film set for release on the streaming platform.
Later on, Sandler provided a fresh insight about the project last month while being a guest on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night talk show, “The Tonight Show.
He announced in August that we’ll be producing the movie “Happy Gilmore”. This project is definitely moving forward as we prepare to film it in New Jersey, starting within a few weeks. I’m excited about it!
The comedian continued, expressing, “We put in a lot of effort into crafting the script. We didn’t want to disappoint anyone. People have been inquiring about it for quite some time now. We’re truly thrilled about it. We worked tirelessly on it. Many golfers are being gracious and will take part in it.
It hasn’t been revealed who else will be part of the cast for Happy Gilmore 2, but it’s certain that NFL player Travis Kelce will make an appearance in the upcoming sequel.
Sandler mentioned that the person will visit, describing him as incredibly kind. In reality, you’d both find him delightful. He’s quite a tall, charming fellow. His humor is infectious and he’s got an awesome, laid-back vibe.
It is anticipated that Christopher McDonald will reappear as the golfing adversary of Gilmore, Shooter McGavin. Regrettably, two of the film’s most recognized stars – Carl Weathers and Bob Barker from The Price is Right – have since passed away following the 1996 premiere of Happy Gilmore.
Happy Gilmore 2 will stream on Netflix, with a release date yet to be confirmed.
