Netflix has cancelled its animated science fiction series, which had a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, marking the end of a show that first premiered during the pandemic. The popular Jurassic Park universe continued to grow on Netflix with new installments, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and Jurassic World: Chaos Theory. These series followed the story of six campers—known as the Nublar Six—who were left stranded on Isla Nublar for six months after the events of the 2015 film Jurassic World and the park’s subsequent closure.
The animated series successfully expanded the story of Jurassic World, fitting in alongside the films. For example, events in Camp Cretaceous mirrored the intense opening of Fallen Kingdom, and the dinosaur breakouts shown in Chaos Theory connected to the attacks in Dominion that happened in Malta. That’s why it’s disappointing to see the show ending so soon.
Jurassic World: Chaos Theory concluded both the spin-off series and the entire Jurassic World franchise that began with the 2015 film. This means Netflix has ended its popular, critically acclaimed science fiction show, which had a 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes – a disappointing outcome for such a well-received series.

Many fans consider Chaos Theory the highlight of the Jurassic World series, and for good reason. It really showed how much the characters had developed – not just physically, but as people – and the impressive 93% audience rating demonstrates that viewers had grown to care about them over the course of the story.
The final season of Chaos Theory largely takes place within the events of Jurassic World: Dominion, but it successfully connects to the movie while also staying true to what fans loved about the ‘Nublar Six.’ The season highlights the characters’ close relationships and clever problem-solving skills as they navigate challenges.
While Jurassic World: Rebirth began a fresh storyline, moving away from the original trilogies, many fans still hope to see the ‘Nublar Six’ characters return in either an animated series or a live-action movie. This is because the years between Dominion and Rebirth haven’t been fully explored in the franchise.
Season 4 of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, created by Scott Kreamer and Zack Stentz, follows the Nublar Six as they race against time to rescue Bumpy from Biosyn Valley and return home. The nine-episode final season launched on Netflix on November 20, 2025.
Why It’s Sad that ‘Jurassic World: Chaos Theory’ Is Ending

While Jurassic World: Chaos Theory gave the Nublar Six a satisfying conclusion, it’s still disappointing to see their story end. Unlike the films, which often feature new main characters, the Nublar Six were a consistent presence in the animated Jurassic World series, and their experiences helped them grow and become stronger.
Both Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory featured many exciting plots, including being stranded on a remote island, discovering secrets about dinosaurs, and constantly facing dangerous situations. The series focused on how a group of six campers transformed from being scared and tired to becoming brave and resourceful heroes.
During the final season, Ben, a member of the Nublar Six, nearly lost his life while bravely rescuing Brooklynn. Although he recovered, the intense effort the group made to save him really highlighted how close they all were. It’s disappointing that this strong sense of camaraderie hasn’t translated to the movies.
Both Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory are great starting points for new fans of the franchise, even though they include some references that longtime viewers will appreciate. They manage to be welcoming to newcomers while still offering depth for dedicated fans.
The positive conclusion of Chaos Theory, with the Nublar Six remaining united despite the turmoil, opens the door for a possible continuation of the story. Knowing they’re still monitoring the dinosaurs provides a strong starting point for a new chapter, particularly since Rebirth showed that most dinosaurs, including Rexy, didn’t survive the planet’s changing climate.
Even if this is the final episode, most viewers would say the show ended well. The core team, known as the Nublar Six, is united and prepared to protect dinosaurs again.
