Netflix reveals sneak peek at Stephen Graham’s new UK crime drama
As a seasoned gamer of both the small and big screens, I can confidently say that the upcoming Netflix series “Adolescence” has piqued my interest like no other. With Stephen Graham, the gritty, gripping mastermind behind the Peaky Blinders, leading the charge, it’s hard not to be intrigued. The continuous one-shot technique for each episode promises a unique and immersive viewing experience that I can’t wait to delve into.
Netflix has unveiled a sneak peek at Stephen Graham’s new series Adolescence.
In an upcoming four-part series, the actor known for “Peaky Blinders” takes on a role as the dad of a 13-year-old boy who gets accused and indicted for the murder of a classmate at his school.
After introducing the technology for capturing photos on film earlier this year, the streaming platform has recently released a set of official first-glimpse images featuring Graham along with his co-stars Ashley Walters (known for “Top Boy”) and Erin Doherty (renowned from “The Crown”).
The narrative unfolds around a family as they navigate through chaos when their 13-year-old son, Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper), is accused of a heinous crime – the murder of a fellow student at his school.
In this scenario, Graham assumes the characters of both Jamie’s father and an appropriate adult named Eddie. Meanwhile, Walter embodies the role of Detective Inspector Luke Bascombe, and Doherty brings Briony Ariston, a clinical psychologist for Jamie, to life.
Each episode of the series will stand out by employing an uninterrupted single-take approach, capturing the unfolding drama as it happens in real-time.
The series is created by Graham and Jack Thorne (from ‘Help’), and Philip Barantini (known for ‘Boiling Point’) will be taking charge as director of the episodes.
In addition to the previously mentioned celestial bodies, the series titled “Adolescence” features Faye Marsay from “Game of Thrones”, Christine Tremarco from “The Responder”, Mark Stanley from “Happy Valley”, Jo Hartley from “After Life”, and newcomer Amélie Pease.
Among several upcoming ventures, the show is one of Graham’s projects. These include a Peaky Blinders film on Netflix, a London-based drama by Steven Knight, a biographical film about Bruce Springsteen, and a new movie thriller titled Good Boy.
Adolescence is set to premiere on Netflix in 2025.
