Netflix is removing James Norton and Lesley Manville’s forgotten London-set drama this week

If you enjoy heartwarming and funny stories, don’t miss Hampstead on Netflix! Starring the late Diane Keaton and Brendan Gleeson, this charming movie also features Lesley Manville and James Norton. It’s a British film originally released in 2017, and it’s leaving Netflix soon, so watch it while you can!

Inspired by true stories, the film centers on Emily and Donald, who form an unexpected connection despite their contrasting lifestyles. Emily lives in a luxurious apartment, while Donald resides in a simple cabin on land developers are trying to acquire.

Norton plays Emily’s son, while Manville can be seen as her self-serving neighbour.

When the movie first came out, critics weren’t very enthusiastic, giving it a 43% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, there are still many enjoyable aspects to the film. The Wrap highlighted Keaton’s “terrific” performance, and The Standard described her as a “refreshing romantic lead.”

Viewers have given it a respectable 6.1 score on IMDb, and Norton clearly looks back on it fondly.

You know, someone asked me about my favorite place to film, and I told Time Out back in 2020 about this one time in Hampstead. I had a scene in a sushi bar with Diane Keaton, and honestly, the best part wasn’t the acting – it was getting to chat with her for hours! I got to ask her everything I ever wanted to know about Woody Allen and The Godfather. It was pretty awesome.

Now, it’s one of several movies being removed from Netflix on Saturday, 1 November.

This Friday, October 31st, is your last opportunity to watch it – perfect if you’re looking for something completely different from scary Halloween entertainment.

Ugh, November 1st is gonna be a sad day for streaming! A bunch of my favorites are leaving, like the original Mean Girls from 2004, Now You See Me from 2013, and even The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie! They’re also taking down Sponge Out of Water from 2015, which is a bummer. Gotta watch them all before they’re gone!

The highly-rated film Parasite, which won an Oscar for Best Picture, will also be leaving the streaming service soon – it’s scheduled to be removed on November 2nd.

Two movies will soon be removed from Netflix: the 2009 comedy 17 Again, starring Zac Efron and Matthew Perry, will be gone on November 5th, and The Miracle Club, featuring Laura Linney, Kathy Bates, and the late Maggie Smith, will be removed on November 11th.

Lesley Manville fans, in addition to her work in Hampstead, can catch her starring alongside Aidan Turner in a new production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses at the National Theatre in London next year. It’s being described as a captivating performance.

Meanwhile, Norton has been cast in one of the upcoming Beatles biopics, where he will play Brian Epstein, who managed the band for many years.

Hampstead is streaming on Netflix until 1 November.

The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! You can purchase Ariana & Witches at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
