Netflix is removing a “riveting” British period drama with Adrian Dunbar next month

Streaming services are constantly changing what’s available. Shows and movies are added and removed all the time. A recent example is the period drama *Emily*, starring Adrian Dunbar, which has been taken off a streaming platform.

Frances O’Connor’s 2022 film boasts a talented cast, including Emma Mackey, Fionn Whitehead, Gemma Jones, Alexandra Dowling, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen. O’Connor, known as an actor, wrote and directed the movie.

This story, blending fact and fiction, centers on the life of famous author Emily Brontë (played by Mackey) and explores how her connection with William Weightman (Jackson-Cohen) sparked the creation of her iconic novel, *Wuthering Heights*.

The movie will leave Netflix on October 22nd, just six months after it became available. Currently, you can’t find it on any other streaming platforms.

So, is the film any good? Yes! Digital Spy gave it a fantastic 4 out of 5 stars, calling it a remarkably strong first feature film from director O’Connor.

Emma Mackey delivers a captivating performance, perfectly embodying Emily’s passionate and fierce nature. Her on-screen connection with Oliver Jackson-Cohen is incredibly strong and engaging, creating a real spark.

Many critics are enjoying *Emily*, and it currently has an 87% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 134 reviews.

According to *IndieWire*, this beautiful historical drama takes liberties with the truth to create a moving portrayal of the author, mirroring the passionate and heartfelt emotion that characterized her writing.

According to *The Guardian*, the film beautifully captures the intensity of Brontë’s feelings, even creating settings that reflect her changing moods – a technique that is truly captivating.

Next month, several other films will also be removed from Netflix, including the action movie *Van Helsing*, the highly-rated historical drama *Schindler’s List*, the classic comedy-drama *The Truman Show*, and the gripping survival thriller *Cast Away* (according to New On Netflix UK).

I’m so excited! Adrian Dunbar just gave us a really promising update about season seven of *Line of Duty*. He said they’re all eager to get the script and see what happens next, and that Jed Mercurio is actually writing it right now. It sounds like things are really moving forward, and I can’t wait!

We’ve spoken with the BBC, and it’s up to them to officially confirm things. However, we’re hopeful we’ll be filming another series next year. We’re sure Jed will come up with a lot of surprising plot developments.

Emily is still available to stream on Netflix for now.
