The showrunner is planning a historical drama, with Netflix greenlighting Alexander, a series focusing on the teenage years of Alexander the Great. The show will explore themes of friendship and mentorship in the ancient world, and is based on Annabel Lyon’s well-received 2009 novel, The Golden Mean.
Having previously adapted Rachel Reid’s novels for Crave and HBO Max, Tierney will now write and direct Alexander, a film about the life of Alexander the Great and his relationship with Aristotle.
